When we took our young daughter in with a high temperature and bad cough we were bracing ourselves for the grueling wait that most parents have to sit through. If you have ever been up all night with a sick child you know how that is. We were quite suprised when we only waited about twenty minutes. The Practioner, nurses, and secreterial staff were all very polite and understanding of our child's needs and our exhastion. We were in and out within and hour with the medicine she needed to get better.
We take our little pug, Misty here all the time. The trim her nails, bathe her, and treat her like the little queen she thinks she is. They are very nice and polite at Dana's. Getting an appointment is always easy and convienent. Their location is great too because while Misty is being pampered we can grab some lunch or take a walk up Broadway to look at all the little shops and enjoy ourselves. Not to mention they are only a few blocks from our favorite pet store.
Though lacking in the usual bright lights and neon signs A & S definetly makes up for it in great service, knowlege, experience, and selection. I love shopping here. They are always willing to explain even the simple things to you with curteous style. Their large selection of exotic birds is just amazing. The birds are liable to say anything to you as you walk through the store. You are more than welcome to handle any reptile, rat, bird, or amphibian in the store. Of course it's play at your own risk. They have a great lay away plan wich is how we bought our little bird last year. They even clip his wings for free.
Rude, un-informed, and sarcastic is how I would describe the employees and even the owner of this establishment. They do not house their fish, birds, or reptiles correctly. They are very over priced and push un-necessary product to the consumer. I have to agree with others that they do have a nice garden center but that does not make up for their lack of customer service or quality pet care. I am suprised that they are allowed to keep animals in such conditions and feed them one such poor diets.
This is my one alternative to my normal pet shop. If for some reason I need emergency supplies and they are out I will go to Sunny Hill. They have a nice set up but if you look closely you can find small and large problems with livestock. Tanks might be beautiful decorated but alot of the times they are lacking in essentials for the fish they are housing. What few reptiles they carry are often kept in the wrong type of terrain substrate and the birds need some serious love. If you need emergency dry goods though I quess they are okay though their prices exceed other stores.
I have shopped alot of pet stores in my life because I have a wide variety of animals and I believe Petcto be the over rated equivalent to Wal-mart. They say they have excellent staff and cheap prices but I can't seem to find them. I quess if all you own are dogs and cats the place would be okay. For us who own multiple types of pets and need well trained and informative sales people it just isn't the place to shop. I once went browsing in the store and asked a simple question about a tropical fish and was unable to find anyone qualified enough to tell me if they were brackish water or regular. I am completely unsatisfied.
If you don't have a Sam's club card then rush out to get one. Membership is very cheap and you can get speacial prices for multible cards. Sam's have everything you can imagine in bulk. It doesn't matter if it's for home, office, church, or school.
You can save alot of money, time, and effort shopping at Sam's. My wife and I buy diapers and wipes here for our little one and it has saved us a fortune.
