I don't actually bowl, but I've been here quite a few times for other reasons. Time Out is actually the bar and retaurant in Valley Lanes and has some good food and drinks. They have several televisions to watch whatever game is on and you can also play a game of darts. Off of the bar is a room with four pool tables, the bowling alley, arcade games and even a play room for the kids. All are taken care of really well and even if you don't bowl you should be able to find something youu enjoy doing.
I've been here a few times to meet friends for a game of pool. It is under fairly new ownership which seems to have helped it a lot. It has a number of tables and I've never been there at a time where you had to wait to play. They have TV's, a jukebox and a bar where you can order drinks. The staff is very nice and willing to help you. They could use a little sprucing up, as the floors are getting worn out, but it's too be expected in a place where people are walking around that much. Overall, good prices and a nice place to spend some time with friends.
When I had a dog we took him to this place in the summer to have him groomed. He was an outside dog so he always looked rather scruffy when we brought him and came out looking quite handsome. They obviously love animals and love their jobs. They always seemed so happy to see him, called him by name and treated him like he was their own. They kept good records of what we had done each time so that they wouldn't have to ask. Their prices were very reasonable and we were always able to get a convenient appointment.
Gitchells has been around for a very long time. Located in Dowtown Harrisonburg, they have a long history of beautiful professional photgraphy. I believe that film you leave there to be developed in now developd by King Photo, but I could be wrong. They provide professional studio service that is outstanding. They will take family portraits, bridal portraits or any other work you are looking to have done. They have a long history of quality service.
My young son was interested in taking karate and we heard this place was the best so we went their for a trial lesson. It's nice because they let you borrow a uniform to take several trial classes before you have to commit to buying the uniform and classes. The instructors were very friendly and great at including my son in the activities, even though they had other students who already knew what to do. They have won may awards and their instructors are very qulified.
I have only had film developed here a few times, and they always did a good job. They have several convenient locations and one hour service is available. They are very knowledgeable about their service and very professional. They have recently added a portrait studio to their Valley Mall location and they take some beautiful pictures. Their prices are about average, a little on the high side for one hour developing, but worth the money.
This store is a Harrisonburg icon! It has been around forever, but has recently moved to a new location. If you never went into the old store, you really missed out. But, they have a very wide selection of nice camera equipment and the owner is very knowledgeable. The store is also well known for its costume rental and party supplies. Friendly and helpful staff. A great place to buy a nice camera, or any other odd thing you might need!
I took my 3 and 5 year-old kids here to make a gift for their father. My oldest wasn't really into it, but my younger child had a blast. They have a huge selection of pieces to decorate with all prices clearly marked. The staff is friendly and helpful and lets you do your own thing. The only thing that I didn't realize/like was that you cannot take your pieces home the same day. You have to wait about a week to pick them up because of the firing, so if you are making it for a gift, go early.
I switched my children to this school this fall and I am so happy with my decision! It is a very large and very nice facility in Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene. The rooms are always kept clean and neat and are decorated like a real school classroom. The teachers are all super-nice and very well qualified. They have music class and time outside on a very nice playground. It even has a secure front door with a code that only parents and staff have access to. Highly recommended.
This is Harrisonburg's biggest newspaper, so you take what you can get. They cover most of the news stories, but often fail to get the facts straight. They do have good photographers and an easy to read format. Their new website is terrible and hard to read however. If I were you I'd get your news from local radio.
