Hanger roo Is a consignment shop located near all of the antique stores in chamblee. They have some cute things and carry everything from clothes (newborn up to schoolage). toys, furniture and maternity.
If you are looking to buy, this place is straightforward. For selling, they are a little more lenient than some other places in the policies (Allow toys - will except wrinkled items in bags etc) Though they let you know they will not sell as well.
I have seen that they also host school fundraisers but I have no experience with this.
we love Dr. Price. My husband first went to him for an adjustment and they chatted and he told us of all the services he offers. Along with the adjustment, my husband was given advice on how to continue living healthy and how to avoid certain activities that will aggrivate the condition.
Further, We have gotten nutritional info from Dr. Price and attended a workshop! Our energy did increase! - He holds these fairly regularly - even if you do not want an adjustment - at least attend a workshop!
Though the Atlanta Botanical Garden is one of teh best places to go in Atlanta anytime - go in the fall - It is not nearly as crowded (parking is also a bit easier although the best option is just to spend a few bucks and take marta.) The leaves are so beautiful in the fall though flowers mostly bloom in spring and summer.
I completely agree with some of the other reviewers who praise the children's garden. Our kids love the dino exhibit best!
When you go, you can also take a stroll through peidmont park .
To me, Earwax is better than Tower - though I know many people love that store. Earwax is a little more specialized than Tower but they are the best at Jazz, hip Hop and reggae.
They also sell DVDs and tickets to some of the local music events. If you are looking for something to do, the folks at Earwax records always know whats going on with the Atlanta music (hip hop etc) scene.
First of all, this is a great shoe store - it is pretty much in the middle of everything downtown so if you are in the vicinity, you will want to stop in. They have all of the best styles and usually have any size you could ever want. Best of all, you never know who you will see in there - Last time I was in there, Buchberger from the Thrashers was also there - Someone on the staff told me that this was not a rare occurance - They have numerous pictures of famous (mostly athletes) that frequent the store -
even if you are not interested in shoes - GO!
Symmes has been my favorite in atlanta for a long time (Beginning when they were on Roswell Road). As for band and orchestra instrumental music - they have the best in Atlanta. Anything you could could want for All-state or solo and ensemble peices - they have it.
As for the piano/guitar music - I cannot say enough great things. Not only have they had many of the songs I look for in, they have been great about ordering things for me. The staff really knows the store and the inventory. If you are looking for something in particular, just ask - you will be out of there in minutes.
My absolute favorite thing to do, however, is to browse for new sheet music and religious piano solos. They have the best selection and I could spend hours just browsing through the bins - I never walk out of there without something new ! Cannot say enough good things about Symmes.
My husband loves this store. They have all of the latest fashion, and you can get EVERYTHING in one place - all coordinated, of course. This takes the guesswork and driving around out of trying to put together a work wardrobe. They have career and casual and the service is great.
The salesmen are more than happy to help you find the perfect style.
Also, check out the website before you go - there is a coupon on there sometimes! - Parking is downtown
Be warned, you will fall inlove with Habersham Wines but due to Georgia Laws, they cannot be shipped to you. Enter at yoru own risk. Habersham uses locally grown grapes (from the North Georgia Mountains) and you can taste anything they grow. They have a few different types, many of which have won awards.
The store is in Underground which is considered a bad section of Atlanta by some, but it is not that bad during the day. Parking can be expensive - better to take marta and walk.
no matter how many times I have been to stone Mountain, I am never bored. They always have something I have not done or a festival going on.
Stone Mountain is actually a granite stone with pictures of confederate generals carved in a part of the rock. This place is not just for civil war buffs, however. They have a large campground for the people who love outdoors with plenty of walking trails. If you are not interested in roughing it - you can also stay in the hotel though I cannot comment on its ammenities.
During the day you can hike the mountain, ride the train around the mountain, ride the air lift to the top of the mountain, check out the museum, take a ride on a paddleboat, check out the HUGE playground or a myrid of other things to do. This does not even count the special events where local vendors come sometimes (Be sure to check it out at halloween!)
Then, as nightfalls, you cannot miss the laser and fireworks show. I have seen it a few times and they change it so you will never be dissappointed - it is beatutiful and kids love to see it.
There is so much to do here and it is only a few bucks for a carfull of people to come! Great for a day or a long weekend!
This is a great house museum, located when Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone With the Wind. The museum/house is right off of Peachtree and easy to get to. Further, the museum is within walking distance to the Fox Theater (where Gone With the Wind had its premier) for those smitten by the movie.
Though the museum does have EVERYTHING related to the movie (Including during the movie shooting, most every poster advertisement etc) it also features Margaret MItchell's apartment and information about her life and early writings.
This is a great place for people who are interested in the history of Atlanta or the movie. The tour is fairly extensive and staff is very knowledgeable.
