ASI Gymnastics - Rockwall
My son attended ASI here in Rockwall for a little over a year. We put him in so it would help with they clumsiness he was dealing with from growing so fast. He enjoyed it emensely and wanted to stay in however we ended up enrolling him in karate instead. It is great if you are wanting to get your child active. The instructors are really good with children and take their time but there isn't alot of 1 on 1 which my son needed. If you child is outgoing and will participate one their own then ASI is for you.
Emler Swim School
Friends of ours have been taking classes at the Emler Swim School for some time with their three boys and so we were invited to attend one of their birthday parties there. My oldest son is afraid of water and my middle son loves the water so we didn't really know what we were going to do with both of them. The instructors were really nice and helpful and encouraged the kids to just get in the water and play. It is an indoor pool and it was a bit warm in there in July with all the kids and parents. The pool area is really cool with the slides but it does get a bit cramped. They finished the party off in another room with cake and goodies and the instructors and helpers did a really good job. If they had one closer to Rockwall I would definitely enroll my sons in the classes.
Artventures
Art Ventures is situated in a small red house on 205 just north of the courthouse square in Rockwall. They offer quite a number of art classes for kids from 4 and up during the summer and during the school year as well. It is a little small and parking is a bit crowded but it is definitely worth it if you have a budding artist in your household. Prices during the summer run at $70 per class, which consists of four days with 1hour classes each day. They also host birthday parties as well.
PROS: Fun classes
CONS: Tiny parking
Habitat Home Improvement Outlet
The Habitat Home Improvement Outlet just off of I-30 in Garland is an interesting store to go and browse around in. They basically have items that are "leftover" from home renovations that have been donated by contractors and are on sale to the public at very good prices. I have found large rolls of wallpaper for only 1 dollar, which we used for wrapping paper. The items change all the time so what you might find one day you probably won't find again. You can find anything right down to the kitchen sink here if you need one. It is a good store when you are starting a renovation project to check out and it benefits a good cause too.
PROS: Great for bargain shopping
CONS:
Eyecare & Laser Management
My family used Dr. Holly Fisher Britt for several years until our insurance changed and we had to find a new eye doctor. Dr. Britt is very sweet and very kind and takes time to chat with you while doing her job, thus making the exam go very fast. Her co-workers are exceptional. Each time I had to run my son's glasses in from some accident at school they never flinched just had me hand them over and within minutes would have them repaired and ready to go. When you go check out the array of choices she has for frames. They will work hard to find ones that suit your face.
Harbor Freight Tools
If you are in need of a tool or have a handyman father or husband then here is a tool shop that you should definately have memorized. Harbor Freight carries quite a number of items that might have to be described to women like myself however my fatherinlaw usually knows just what they are for and is able to explain what everything is. I was shocked at the low prices and have made sure to make it a stop for Father's Day and for Christmas gifts for the men in my family. It is worth stopping in- you never know what you might find on sale.
Horizon Auto Center
We have used the Horizon Auto Center for the last few years for our oil changes and for the inspection sticker services for our vehicles. The mechanics are very friendly and always busy. If you go on a Saturday morning be prepared to wait for a bit for them to get to you. The manager is very nice and will chat with you while you wait. They have always done a good job on our vehicles and the inside is always very clean.
Roma's Preread Books
Roma's is a very small used book store located off the access roads of I-30 in Rockwall by the El Fenix Mexican restaurant. They are located just down the shopping center from Blockbuster. You can open the door and smell the books. They have a lot of books that are stacked pretty high so I'm not so sure I would plan on bringing small children or strollers. They have the books arranged in different classifications with the childrens area found in the back corner. It is a good place to go and spend a rainy afternoon or just to peruse and find a hidden treasure.
Hacienda Car Wash Inc.
The Hacienda Car Wash, located on 205 in Rockwall just a few miles south of I-30, is a great place in Rockwall to take your vehicle for a regular car wash or if you want to go all the way and have them completely clean the inside out. The employees are very friendly. The place even has a little gift shop you can shop in while you are waiting or you can sit in one of the rocking chairs on the front while you wait. Very good value as well.
Action Kawasaki Suzuki
Action Suzuki is a very good place to go and browse and wish you had the money to buy some of the bikes in there. It is also a good place to go and pick up accessories or batteries for motorcycles. I love going in on a Saturday and seeing the bikes all out front. It is a good place to talk to someone if you are having a problem. They also do service on bikes if you are in need. A cool place to go and one of the first I would visit if I ever won the lottery.
