Flapjacks
This is a great place, especially for breakfast. They also serve lunch and dinner, but their breakfasts are better than anywhere else around! The prices are extremely reasonable! They have a wide variety of foods, and all are cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. They serve with a smile and make sure you have what you need. This is another great family friendly restaurant.
Red Mill Burgers
Oh man! Talk about a great burger! It isnt really the burger itself that makes it so good, but rather whoever grills them knows what he/she is doing in order to get a nice flavorful and juicy patty; as well as the unique and flavorful toppings. They use only the best ingredients. I highly recommend the bacon cheeseburger, or if you like blue cheese, the blue cheese bacon cheeseburger! Both are delicious!! Their shakes are thick and yummy! Their onion rings are fresh and homemade, and the flavor is incomparable to any Ive ever tried. They are crunchy and just oh so good! The prices are extremely reasonable! There isnt a whole lot of seating area, although there is some. Best to go at off times, as lunch is very crowded! One thing, do NOT use your cell phone here. They are adamantly against cell phones inside and will tell you to turn it off or take it out! Also, they take checks and cash only. If you want the best burger, this is the place to go!
Just Parrots Etc Incorporated
I love Just Parrots! It is fun even if you are just looking! We were interested in looking to purchase a parrot, and after looking at the many other pet stores that carry them, we found this place. It is wonderful! Their parrots are all VERY well cared for. Many of them are babies which is excellent to find, as they bond much better with owners at this age. They have a wide variety and are very knowledgable in their field. They can help you with anything from purchasing, to training, to behaviour problems, to feeding issues. If you are looking to buy stop here...if you just like to check out cute little parrots, check here anyway!
Treasure House Travel & Cruises Inc
We went to Treasure House Travel when planning our out of town wedding/honeymoon. The rep who helped us was very curteous, and professional. She helped us find exactly the parts of travel necessary to us (air, hotel, car) and at the price we could afford. Generally we use the internet to find the best deals for ourselves, without using a middle man, but at that time it was more convenient to trust someone else with it. We didn't have to do anything at all except give a budget, a place we wanted to travel, and what we would need. She did all the rest! THT is full of trustworthy individuals who are willing to go an extra mile to help!
Portable Storage of America
I used to rent a storage space in a storage facility, until I learned about Portable Storage of America. Their prices were cheaper for MORE space. The best part is the unit is ON my property, which is extremely convenient! It is a cute (sorry men, about the cute, but it is!) 8x10 wooden shed, and it matches my home. The unit is sturdy and durable, with a floor. They also have other types of units available. The customer service is excellent! The office staff is considerate, and not pushy at all! They deliver, set up, and if you move will even move it for you (for a fee)! They have a few different options, you can either buy straight out, rent to own, or pay a small down payment then rent and own it even sooner!
PROS: Hello...everything!
CONS: NOTHING AT ALL!
Party City
Party City in Burien is a good place to go if you just want cheap and easy party goods. They have a wide variety of themed items. They also have serving equipment, balloons, and novelties. Their prices are fair and some are even pretty cheap.
On the down side, do not expect high quality. The items are cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. Also, the customer service is terrible. For the most part, the staff is made up of immature young people, who would rather chat on the phone than help customers. They seem to have no understanding of customer service.
PROS: Variety, quick easy items
CONS: poor quality, poor customer service
Red Eye Espresso
Red Eye Espresso is conveniently located in Burien, next to the Burien Park and Ride and in the Saars Marketplace parking lot. If you need a great tasting cup of coffee, with a lot of kick to it, this is your coffee stop! They have the convenience of a double drive through. However, even with two windows, the line can be long, so plan your arrival at non peak times or be prepared for a wait. The staff is wonderful about making your coffee just how you want it and ensuring it is made right. The only setback is that Red Eye is one of the costlier coffee stands around, though they do have double stamp Tuesday!
PROS: GREAT coffee, wonderful staff
CONS: a little more expensive, long wait times
Azteca
Azteca is a wonderful family run mexican restaurant. The food is delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and made as you request it. The service is impeccable, from the hostesses to the wait staff. All friendly, courteous, and willing to please. They know how to treat you right. I have never had to wait too long for a seat, as they have ample seating available. Prices are reasonable, the best times being lunch and happy hour, but even dinner hour isn't too bad, depending on what you order. I highly recommend Azteca for anyone in the mood for good Mexican food.
Burien Library
This library is a gem! First of all, it is large enough that it has a large variety of books and services, but not so large that you could get lost. Secondly, the staff is very helpful and friendly. They have wonderful free programs for everyone - children, teens, families and adults. If you need a book, or something fun, educational, and free to do, then check out Burien Library!
PROS: Free programs, great selection of books and service
CONS: none
Private Eye On Seattle Mystery & Murder Tours
This is a truly unique tour of Seattle's 'underbelly'. Tours are currently given by Jake, the lady who was the assistant to a real private eye who worked locally. There are three tours available, a tour in the Queen Anne area, a tour in the Capitol Hill area, and a tour called "Haunted Happenings" which is based on local hauntings. I don't know about the haunting one, as I am not much of a believer, but the mystery ones are fantastic for mystery buffs.
On our Capitol Hill tour, we visited the grave of Bruce Lee, saw the home where Kurt Cobain commit suicide (? if he did ?), the stomping grounds of Jimi Hendrix, and home of Ted Bundy. We also toured areas and saw homes where unsolved murders had occured, or other mysterious happenings. In addition, Jake shows you weapons similar to the actual ones used in the murders!
Tours last about two and a half hours and the cost is $25 per person. It's mostly a driving tour, although there is a little walking. However, I was 8 months pregnant at the time and had no problem!
PROS: Unique, interesting
CONS: Expensive
