Red Rocks Credit union membership is open to residents of Douglas County, employees of Lockheed Martin, and several other categories. It's worth joining if you can. Car and home loan rates are very low, CD rates are about the best available locally, and they have several offices around the south metro area plus internet banking. Did I mention almost free checking? I've been a member over 25 years and recommend it highly.
This is your standard neighborhood equipment rental shop. I've been their customer for 20 years. The gear works, the rates are reasonable and in general they do a good job and treat customers fairly.
I hate to shop for tires. Ratings are confusing and comparisons among brands are almost impossible. So, I've been using Discount Tire for both our cars for over 12 years. Their work is guaranteed, the salespeople are knowledgeable, and appointments get you in and out quickly. Twice I've paid very little for replacement tires when old ones wore out too soon - never a hassle. With stores all over, their guarantee makes me feel more secure.
It's hard to tell some jewelry stores apart; many have almost identical merchandise. Williams is an exception. They carry works from a number of designers and even some designs of their own. We seldom visit them without seeing something truly impressive.
The family run Mission Trujillo has been a Littleton institution for many years. Recently I went back after a couple of years and was disappointed. The service, never zippy, had slowed even more. The food was quite unremarkable. It's sad, but I won't be coming back here and can't recommend it.
Tres Potrillos is a fairly new addition to local Mexican restaurants and I find it above average overall. The food is flavorful and well spiced, and the margaritas are excellent. The atmosphere is casual and service is good. Good for lunch or a family dinner.
If you ever wanted to eat buffalo under a buffalo head on the wall, try the Buckhorn Exchange. The "wild west" decor includes some historical artifacts but mainly features enough taxidermy to fill several dozen hunting lodges. The menu is known for game: elk, moose, venison & rabbit, plus exotic fare like rattlesnake or alligator. Portions are medium and so is the general quality, though prices are rather higher. The Buckhorn seems very much past its peak, though still not bad as a unique experience for tourists and visitors.
PROS: right across from 10th St. light rail station.
CONS: showing its age in too many ways
From info sheets with suggestions for each age group to toys set up for play by small customers, Kazoo gets it right. If your idea of toys goes beytond the big chains and you don't think educational has to mena boring, this is the place. There may be better toy stores, but not in Colorado.
The container store is just that. They have containers, boxes, jars, cases, bins, bags, and all kinds of storage for all kinds of stuff. For kitchen, bath, office, garage, garden or anywhere, you can find it here, usually in several styles, colors, and materials.
If L.L.Bean or Land's End appeal to you, you'll love Eddie Bauer. They have the same quality outdoor clothing in the same type of styles and in the same price range, only available locally instead of by mail or internet. There are several stores and 2 discount "outlets" in the area and all feature the same lines.
