If you aren't already downloading your music via iTunes, and still need to purchase new cds, Virgin is a great place to do it. Very large collection of various genres, including World and Latin, plus your garden variety Rock. Also sells DVD. Please buy on sale, though, regular prices are a bit high.
PROS: good selection of music
CONS: can be pricey
This store is small in comparison to other used music stores. The layout isn't the most managable, and finding what your looking for is a bit hard. Also, not a very impressive collection of used titles. You just might find something you're looking for, if you haven't found it at Amoeba.
CONS: small music collection
This store is amazing for the dedicated music lover. Thousands of cds line the huge warehouse-feel of this store. Every genre can be found here, from soul to electronica to soundtracks. Awesome.
Amoeba has a huge inventory of used cds, and if you need to unload a few, you can exchange for money or store credit here.
CONS: can be overwhelming in size
I highly recommend Dr. Bergen. She is the absolute best. Last year, when my son had an emergency with one of his teeth, she came to the rescue. She is kid-friendly, but also stern enough to have kids listen to her directions. After one visit, my son became a big tooth brush enthusiast. Her office is geared to kids completely, with video games, movies, and toys accessible. Kids love her dog, Chacka, too.
PROS: She's a pro with kids!
REI has everything a camping, bicycling, hiking person wants. Clothes for the outdoors, equipment, advice, and accessories are all available here. The staff are well versed in the outdoors, and can help select that perfect tent or sleeping bag for you. I highly recommend this store for novice campers.
PROS: Everything an outdoors person wants.
Raibow co-op rocks for those of us who are vegetarian, and love good food. Not only do the workers own stakes in the store, they also love what they do. I once knew the cheese guy, and he was THE cheese guy. He would go on business trips looking for the best quality cheese possible. The produce is all organic (big plus), and they have a huge selection of alternative health suppliments and remedies. And they have a community-minded focus.
PROS: Yeay Veggies: great selection of non-meat foods
You will love this store. I went bananas when I walked in. All those things to organize with! They have everything you could possibly think about when putting together a kitchen, or bathroom, or storage room. Salt shakers, linen bags, baskets, you name it, it is here ready to hold your stuff.
PROS: Wonderful stuff to organize with.
I highly recommend coming to this Old Navy if you want to avoid all the traffic at the downtown location. This store may not have all the space that the one down town does, but I prefer my sanity to the potential trampling you might experience downtown.
PROS: Not so much traffic!
Although not as well-known as other zoos, I definitely like this zoo the best. I have a youngster, and he loves coming here whenever weather, and our schedule permits. Highlights include the tiger feeding (you're so up close!), the children's zoo, and the new African Safari area. The bugs exhibit is pretty cool for young kids, too. It's much more managable than other zoos, and if you go during the week while school is in session it can be a quiet experience.
PROS: great for kids
I like this Petco better than the one on Bryant. The staff are always friendly, and I don't have to wait around for service. They seem to be cleaner, too. Although far from where I live, it is close to other areas I frequent, so I come here when possible.
PROS: friendly staff
