This theater is located in what the locals call "the neck" because it's in the heart of a pretty bad section of Newark. But it's a really big theater, and they show ALL of the latest movies. They have matinees until 6pm for $5 or $6, and they have a great selection of snacks. They renovated the theater recently, so it looks a lot nicer now--they keep it clean. If you are not afraid to drive through the rough part of town, i would recommed coming here because once you get here, it's pretty safe inside the theater.
I go here sometimes when I do not want to travel to one of the bigger, nicer theaters. This place is pretty small and they do not have a large selection of snacks. They do not have any hotdogs or Nachos or even Slushies--just soda, popcorn and candy. They do not show all the popular movies either, so I only come here if they are playing something good. On the weekends, this place is packed with local highschool and middle school kids. The prices are pretty decent though, considering how expensive it is getting to go to the movies!
This bowling alley is kind of hard to get to....you have to turn off of Mill Road onto this small, side street that is kind of hard to find if you do not know it is there. This place used to be nice, but it has become pretty run-down and it gets really crowded here on the weekends. It's a pretty small bowling alley, and it is a common hangout for local teenagers. It's not the cleanest looking bowling alley around, and on the weeknds it's almost impossible to get a lane.
I used to work here and it is a really fun place to work. The owner is this cool Italian guy named Vinnie, and he is there all the time. This gym is only a few years old, so it's still up-and-coming. They offer some classes and you can hire a personal trainer for $40 an hour. There is a restaurant in the gymnasium that serves healthy food for health-conscious people. I think they have a great variety of cardio-equipment, and weight-lifting equipment. It gets crowded here after 5, so I would recommend coming before then.
I came here because my back was bothering me and they did a really thorough exam the first time I came here. One thing I like about this place is they don't just crack your back and neck, but they work with you to really enhance your lifestyle and focus on wellness---they work with you on all of your fitness goals, from eating better, to losing weight, to even working with you to try and stop your snoring at night, or any other sleeping problems that you may have. They accept most insurance plans and the staff and doctors are really friendly.
Everytime I come here the staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a pretty big ice cream parlor, with several tables to sit down and eat your ice cream right there. They have a large selection of ice cream cakes, and the prices are really good. They will personalize the cake with a birthday greeting or whatever you'd like at no additional charge. This place is hardly ever crowded, so you don't have to worry about long lines.
This place is pretty big and the equipment is pretty new. I like coming here because it is never too crowded. They have a lot of fitness classes--aerobics, pilates, yoga, ab classes, weight lifting, kickboxing etc. You can hire a personal trainer to help you at a decent price. Probably the only problem with this place is I sometimes can't find a place to park because there is no parking lot---you have to park on the street. It is located near South Orange village.
Comcast of NJ is okay. You can get digitable cable at a decent rate and they have OnDemand. The only problem is if you have a problem with your cable, the customer service is not very good, and it takes them a while to fix your cable. Also, they do not have some of the cool channels, like FX and WE. I wish we could get TimeWarner in NJ, because I think they have better service and offer better channels.
CONS: Poor customer service
This place is absolutely gorgeous. The hotel is huge--they have a shopping center, several restaurants, and a huge pool that has a kiddie water park. The cabana bar by the pool is great and they serve good food. If you stay on floor 12 or higher, you have access to their penthouse clubhouse, located on the top floor, where you can get FREE LIQUOR and they serve food during a happy hour from 5-7, and the food is really good--fried shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, chicken fingers....we would come here for happy hour and make this our dinner! this place is located right on the beach, and is not too far from South Beach.
I think this resort is the 2nd best resort to stay at--I like Vistana Resorts better. But this place is nice too...I stayed in a 2-story duplex that had a full kitchen, living room with a pull out couch, and the upstairs had a master bedroom with a bathroom and jacuzzi in the room. Each room also had a really nice private pation, and there are outdoor jacuzzi's all over the complex. It's located in a prime location, with easy access to all the popular attractions.
