Not far off I-24 this Inn is a welcome place for pets. We did not have a pet with us but saw many who did. The rooms were economical and the staff was very cordial and helpful.
We love to just wander around at Lotus. They will come to you and do your landscaping for a fee, but you can purchase items there to do it yourself. They have fish ponds, trees, shrubs, landscaping rocks and timbers. Just browse 'til your heart's content. On a sunny day it is worth the ride down State Hwy. 3 in Illinois to Ware, IL for a visit to Lotus Naturescapes.
While it may not be the answer for everyone, I am glad Jim West at Cape Audiology fitted me with a bi-directional hearing aid. It has a receiver that goes in the deaf ear and picks up sounds and voices I was not hearing, and transmits it to a device in my hearing ear. It's like hearing in stereo all over again but it is all going in one ear.
Or check out the latest video. When we go into Riverside there are tables to sit at or chairs to relax in. There are computers to access information if we need to. I have a friend who went there for several weeks while her computer was down at home. The staff there is always ready to help you search for what you need. It's a great quiet place to retreat.
I've been to the Cutting Edge for massages, perms, cut and styles, and they offer manicures and pedicures as well. They have stylists familiar with hairstyles for all ages. Just ask for Amie or Linda and if they are not available they will set you up with another qualified person.
I like going to Sunny Hill because the employees there are so helpful. They will tell you what plant food to buy for a particular plant, whether it does better in sun or shade, etc. You can find anything from birdseed and bird feeders to landscaping materials and trees.
My husband and I have both shopped for each other at Dalton's. They are an FTD florist but so much more. When I wanted to surprise him with a "macho" basket for his birthday, they combined green plants, candies, fishing tackle and other items to make it truly unique. It's great to know they consider each person's order important.
Patricia Ann's welcomes all the tour groups to the area. She has a little something for everyone. She carries teapots, teas, coffees, jewelry and many other beautiful items. Anyone who visits the old downtown Cape area needs to stop by her shop.
We visited River Ridge about a year ago. We had heard how great it was. We drove and drove way out into nowhere only to find what looked like a group of stills in the back of a building like a house. There's a little sandwich shop inside and some people sit out on the lawn. If you are into long drives to enjoy a bottle of wine, I guess it is okay, but there are some other wineries not far away that are a bit more elaborate.
Whether I want a juicy garden tomato, hanging plants or landscaping materials, I love to go to Pioneer Orchard. They even have a festival in the fall. People who come in to town to visit friends love to stop by to get fresh peaches and the like. The weeks before Mother's Day are really busy there. I love picking out plants and just wondering around looking at all the beautiful flowers.
