This is a no-kill shelter. We adopted out last dog here and it was a great experience. They have you fill out an extensive questionaire for adoption, which makes me feel that they are trying to find the best home possible for these animals. They have a large selection of adoptable dogs and cats, and I believe they may adopt out other animals as well. The staff/volunteers that worked with us were very knowledgable and extremely nice to deal with.
I would always recommend adopting an animal before buying one, there are so many in shelters that need homes! We adopted our first dog through Andersons. They have a lot of volunteers on hand to help answer questions and to take care of the animals, and they are always looking for more volunteers. They have many adoptable dogs and cats. There is an open room for the cats to roam around in, though there are some kept seperate in kennels. There is a seperate room for dogs, each is kept in a pen with a door for outside access. If you want to spend time with a dog, they will bring the dog outside for you to get a better idea of the personality away from all the noise of the shelter.
My husbands family had been bringing their pets here for years, and now that my husband and I have many pets of our own we bring them all to Dundee Animal Hospital. We've brought all of our pets there (including mice, rats, and hamsters) and they treat all animals with equal concern. We have had several different doctors help us and all have been great. This location also has a 24 hour emergency service, which is a definate help. Although it is best to call first if you have an emergency involving exotics to make sure someone is on staff to help you. If they don't, they will give you other options on where you can go.
This Super Target is actually located in Streamwood (according to the Target website.) It's a brand new store, it's only been open since March 2005. They've got a great selection of merchandise as well as a grocery section. So far, in comparison shopping, they have lower food prices than most other grocery stores.
I'm happy to see, with so many places from my childhood gone, that Kiddieland is still around. I used to go here all the time when I was younger, and have re-visited a few times as an adult. Although the park is not as large as some other amusement parks, it's still a fun place to spend a day and it's pretty inexpensive to get it. They have a variety of rides for all ages as well as carnival games, an arcade, and food vendors.
I've taken many rolls of film to this Wolf camera for processing. They always do a great job, and they are the only place I'll trust with my black and white film processing. The employees are helpful. The last time I dropped film off one of my rolls came back blank, somone from the store called me to let me know about this and they did not charge me. The store also has a good selection of camera equipment and accessories, along with photo albums and storage, and a variety of frames.
This a a nice store to shop in. The location is convenient, right off of Golf Road not too far from Woodfield mall. The store is a good size, although this location does not carry music or videos. They do have a great selection of books and magazines, and the cafe makes it a nice place to spend time.
The new building is fantastic. Two stories, huge picture windows overlooking the Fox river, and lots and lots of books. This is such a great place to spend time browsing through the shelves, finding a book, and just sitting down to read. They even have a quiet reading room that's separated from the rest of the library with a large fireplace in the middle, a very inviting place to sit, relax, and read if you're unable to do so at home.
We brought my nephew here for his 5th birthday. The kids loved it, they had a great time chearing on our team. I was pleased that they were able to offer me a vegetarian plate instead of the usual meat dinner. All in all, I think it's a good place to bring kids but if it were just adults I don't think it would be as much fun.
This is a pretty good theater to see movies at, which was made better by the recent addition of their Ultra Screen. It's a larger screen, better sound system, and stadium seating. If you see a movie at one of the regular theaters, make sure to be earlier than the show time. Most theaters start their previews at that time, but they tend to start their previews earlier and start the actual movie at the show time.
