At the last minute, my husband needed some alterations on his suit. Alterations Express lived up to its name. They were very helpful in getting the job done and coordinating with the dry cleaners to meet our deadline without additional fees. The hem job was professional and just as requested and I would recommend them in the future.
Rome seems to have a lot of boy scouts and I believe it is because the Northwest Georgia Council does such a fine job keeping up with the training of adults, not to mention the overall commitment and dedication to the kids. I know it sounds like an advertisement, but I speak from personal experience and have seen things in this Council that brings honor to the area. Camp Sidney Dew is improving as a facility and I look forward to seeing some of the new additions in the future.
This popular roller skating rink is busy and friendly. The skates seem to be in good working order and the hardwood floors shine each time I have been there. The birthday party rooms are kinda small, but you spend a small amount of time in them. Skate rental includes inline skates for a little bit more. The last Thursday of every month is Gospel night.. We enjoy the good clean fun. This red brick building and popular kid hangout is not hard to miss.
Sparkles is a local favorite with lessons, skate nights and birthday parties. The Kennesaw location even had Family night on Saturdays which helps a parents nerves if attending with their young ones. Prices are reasonable, with a little extra cost for speed or inline skates. Your group can also rent the facilities, which our church actually did once. It was a lot of fun and the Christian music was a nice change.
Rome/Floyd Parks and Recreation assumes that you know everything when you sign up! As a new person to Rome, finding out, after the fact, that when you sign up for baseball ($35.00) that you will pay hundreds of dollars in equipment and uniform costs, is a little disheartening and surprising. They need to improve communications for people using their services as if they never participated before. On the other side, they do seem to address concerns for parents and make changes as needed within the program. It isn't perfect, but my son still had a lot of fun, even if Mom was broke afterwards.
Updated: My son has participated in years of Parks and Rec and and although they still are vague in communications... they have worked hard to put together a good program. I have upgraded my rating to reflect this... but I still wish they would give more information for new players.
A little on the high end, this small nursery specializes in wholesale landscaping so many of the plants are larger than what you might find at your nearest home improvement store. Some specialized species are available for perennials although the annuals found were mostly in finished pots for sale. Only saw one employee although he was helpful if a little reserved.
I went to this store looking for a specific item.. and was excited to see some items on sale. I saw Kmart and Walmart type labels so be aware of what you are getting. Unfortunately with cheap clothes, regular prices can be close to retail. Once home, I realized that she overcharged me for a top.. It wasn't worth the $2.00 to go back and complain, but it did affect my desire to frequent this shop.
Legalize: Of course, this is only my personal opinion and may not reflect the opinions of others.....
This small Hallmark store is packed with collectibles, cards, candles, windchimes and stationary. Some of the staff washelpful in finding what I needed. They even make recommendations for gifts when I was having trouble deciding on the perfect one. Unfortunately, another employee spent her time on the phone with a personal call and it was a little annoying. I had no desire to hear the conversation which really has no place in a quiet store. Prices seem to be your average retail prices.
Update: Since this review, I have gone to this store and found the staff to be helpful and friendly and never saw that other employee. I have upgraded their rating.
Our visit to this tiny museum found us amazed at the amount of historical things could be packed into this small museum, but not only is it fun to browse, through the three galleries, there are tour guides and voluteers willing to answer your questions. My favorite was the Homelife Gallery including vignettes of rooms from times past. Like any Georgia museum, you must also have Civil War memorabilia.. this one is no exception.
Not only is this gift shop full of wonderful rooms full of country gifts, collectibles, bears, candles and so much more. Service was excellent but the selection is worth browsing. You can custom order pine furniture, with your preferred dimensions. It is made with craftmanship that you won't find at your average local furniture store.
