Mr. Leonard of Leonard's studio is the oldest photo studio still in business in the Thibodaux area. In fact, Mr. Leonard has been in business since I was a kid over 30 years ago. He has the best prices in town for grad photos. I know this because my oldest daughter is graduating in May 07 and I have shopped around for grad pics and found Mr. Leonard to be the cheapest by far. In fact, Mr. Leonard offers smaller packages for the graduate who desires extra pictures for those newfound friends.

Mr. Leonard also took a black and white wallet picture of my dad and turned that into a hand painted colored oil painting sized 18x20. To say the potrait was gorgeous is such an understatement. Mr. Leonard also offers packages for weddings, children, family photos, you name it and Mr. Leonard can handle it.

HCS infusion network

I came to have dealings with HCS infusion network about 18 months ago. My youngest son suffers an immune problem and requires weekly infusions. With HCS, not only were they the only company willing to work with me because of my son's age and the medicines he would require, but they also have a 24 hour on call nurse who is more than willing to talk me through any problems I might have.

HCS offer infusions to manage different ailments. I know they offer immuno suppression drugs through infusions as well as pain management and

HCS has locations in Houma, Lafayette, Baton Rouge and several other locations throughout this area of the state. A couple of times now, I have had an after hours problem and Becky, the RN at the Houma office is so happy to leave out of her house to meet me at the office and help deal with our problems. Becky treats my son and his medical problems as though he was her own son, her caring attitudes really show through.

My son's meds and supplies are shipped out of Baton Rouge every Thursday like clockwork. We recieve a call from the pharmacist to make sure we aren't short on his supplies and let us know that the supplies should be to us by a certain time that day. Like that we know about what time we need to be home. Unlike other local companies who just want to show up at any time to drop off supplies.

Out of all the home medical companies we have dealt with for different health issues my family has had in the past, HCS sets the standards high and no other company even comes close. I can't say enough positive things about HCS other than to call them and see if they can help with your home medical needs.

Dollar General

The Dollar General store on Canal Blvd has been there for many years.The parking lot is very beat up with large pot holes. Also the parking lot is littered with broken glass bottles and other trash from the bar room located next store.

The inside of the store is not very well kept up. In fact, I would go as far as saying that it's rather dirty and in a mass dissaray. The shelves are not very well-stocked with needed items, but the racks are usually well stocked. The problem is that if they have a red shirt with print, they have 50 red shirts with that same red print.

I was just in this Dollar General store recently and left without making a purchase as I was so unimpressed with the lack of kindness that the staff lacks as well as the fact that what I went into the store for was not in stock.

I recently had the pleasure of shopping at Emile's for my husband's Christmas present. I was totally impressed with the size the store, much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. The store was very clean and organized, totally impressed. I was shopping for a lazy boy chair as my husband's Christmas present and the stock of chairs was extensive. I bet there was at least 100 different chairs in different styles and price ranges.

Scott and Ms Wanda were ready to answer all of my chair buying needs are were very knowledgeable about helping me get the perfect chair to coordinate with my living room. The chairs were also on sale, buy 1 get 1 free. Since I didn't want two chairs, I was offered a chair at half off. I was offered financing through one of our area finance companies.

I highly recommend shopping at Emile's if you desire great service and a wide selection of furnishings.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

I love the Cracker Barrel stores. While working as a hotshot driver, they were absolutely my favorite place to stop. Since I was gone from home so much, I would often bring small gifts home to my children as a "reward" or an "I miss you gift". The best part of Cracker Barrel stores is the selection of the merchandise they offer. What they have at Cracker Barrel stores is not the same selections that you can find at your local discount store. The gifts are unique. Example is those mystery books where you have to have the magic ink pen to reveal the answer to the question or the game. The other item that comes to mind are the mind challenging games such as the tic tac toe with the golf tees. Also those cheap airplanes that are made of thin wood from back in our days are still available at Cracker Barrel for about a buck seventy five.They always have something for everyyone. The candy sticks are still a dime at Cracker Barrel, the same price they have always been.

I also love the selections of gifts. I have recently noticed that the store stocks gifts with a reference towards queens, which I am a true queen...LOL! They had an excellent selection of t-shirts, throw pillows, knick knacks, etc. The store is very clean and kept up. The shelves are very well stocked and the food at the restraurant is excellent. My family and I love to eat at Cracker Barrel because we can order a meal,i.e. hamburger steaks then we can order two vegetables of our choice and the bread and biscuits are always fresh and free. We are always pleased at this Cracker Barrel store and restraurant.

Baby it's you is one of the area's baby shop for the elite shoppers of the area. By saying elite, I don't mean the rich shoppers, I mean those shoppers who are searching for the perfect gift, and will pay a little extra to get it. Since Baby it's you caters to children from infants to 6x, they have something in that shop for everyone. They have name brands such as Feldman's.

They carry a great line of outfits to take the newborn home from the hospital, bedding, christening outfits and shoes. Baby it's you also carries outfits that cater to the seasons, meaning Halloween costumes, little t-shirts etc.They also carry communion outfits and even have now established a baby register. I shopped at Baby it's you the last time about a year ago when my daughter outgrew the sizes they carry. I now have a grandbaby on the way so once again I am a proud shopper of Baby it's you. The staff is always so knowledgeable. Free gift wrapping is offered on any store purchase.

Aaron's rent to own

Aaron's rent to own is a furniture store with so much more. Yes you can rent a freezer or a bedroom set, but in case you haven't been into an Aaron's lately they now have a rent to own plan that has been enhanced to also include laptop and desktop computers. The Aaron's here in town also rents to own riding lawnmovers, big screen televisions, and even a John Deere battery operated ride on toy for that special youngster in your life.

Just about all Aaron's carry about the same basic merchandise, but the service is what I want to rave about.The staff here at the Aaron's in Thibodaux La, are excellent. They offer a courtesy call to remind you of your payment becoming due, then if you are not there on your due date, they also call you again to ask when will you be in to pay your bill.

The sales people and delivery guys are so very nice and hospitable. They are always ready to help the customers with thier selections.They do offer an extended warranty on the items purchased to fix the items in case it becomes unworkable. I had this coverage on my washing machine, the repair man was called out and the item was fixed in less than 24 hours.
The downfall of all rent to own merchandise stores is the fact that by the time the item is paid for, over a twelve month time, the item is paid for three times over.

Amy has been in business for about 10 years creating great smelling candles along the banks of Bayou Lafourche. Other than for the name brand candles that are shipped into our area by bulk, Amy's candles are the original triple scented, hand poured candles which are still handmade. I highly recommend her sugar cookies candles. The scents of these candles last until the candle is completely burned.

I also recommend trying out the scented oils, which Amy's stores have a wide selection and don't forget your droppers or the oil holders, Amy sells angel head shapes.

She has many locations throughout southeast Louisiana from this location at Southland Mall in Houma, to Kenner, to Baton Rouge and out towards Covington.
So many locations makes shopping for candles at Amy's such an easy task.

Walgreens

This Walgreen is open 24 hours, but they are so much more than a pharmacy. Yes the shelves are very well stocked with the necessities such as cold remedies, pain relievers, and band aids, but Walgreen's is at the next level.
They offer as much of a different line of health items such a soaps, toothpastes, and deodorants as walmart. Granted the items are significantly higher priced than Walmart, but the convience of getting medicine and all your needs at one stop is excellent.
For the Christmas holidays, they are very well stocked with items needed for the holidays. Lights, decorations, and the last minute gifts are here to be found with a wide selection of items.
The photo section has a wide selection of digital cameras and memory discs, as well as regular cameras and film. The photo lab is excellent with service and quality of the items they develop.

Lee's Education Ctr

I have shopped Lee's since my first child was old enough to enjoy the learning experience. From workbooks, to puzzles, to reading books, to poster boards and stickers. If the items you need is educational based, Lee's is the place to shop first.
Lee's sells the paper on the rolls for next to nothing, the science/social studies fair boards which fold into three. They have construction papers, each color sold separately, glitter, paints, glue, stampers, stamp pads, sharpie markers, reward stickers and pencils which praise children for thier efforts or pencils which are based on grades.
They are conviently located on East 7th street, one block behind St Joseph church on Canal.
The workbooks are based on grade levels, as well as skills, i.e. math, writing, reading, or a multitude of skills. Which allows a child working ahead or behind grade level the chance to get workbooks to help them excel.
