The Whole Child Development Center
This center is located across from Rosehill Elementary. The teachers/directors are kind and caring. I have personally worked with several of them and found them to be totally devoted the children and their needs. They are kind, caring and nurturing. Call and arrange a tour and you will see what I mean.
PROS: Kind and caring staff
CONS:
Dianas Cake & Candy Supply Shop
I have had good luck in finding things in this shop! Several times I was looking for a specific decoration and unable to find it elsewhere---walked in this shop and lo and behold they had it. They are always very helpful!
PROS: Lots to offer, friendly and helpful staff
CONS: a little bit out of the way---but worth it
Rolling Hills Zoo
I had never heard of this place until a relative mentioned it. It is a bit of a drive from Kansas City---but well worth the trip. The zoo has animals I had never seen---like an anteater and an ardvark. You can get fairly close to the animals. A lot or are to cover---so would suggest buying the tram pass. There is a large covered picnic area right outside the zoo. The picnic area has lots of picnic tables, pop machine, electricity and restrooms. Across from the zoo is a wonderful museum. The museum shows animals in their natural habitat. Some of the animals are motorized--so they move. There are also some "people" (statues) that "talk" and describe things. There is a neat theater on the way out of the museum. You can buy a pass to either the zoo or the museum ---or get a combo pass at a reduced price. They have a nice website that gives a lot of info. Highly recommended!
PROS: Great experience, wonderful animals
CONS: a bit of a drive---but worth it
Sharp's 63rd St Grill
The food in this place reminds me of a 50's dinner. Home cooked type food. Food is cooked and presented nicely. Food was not greasy and was served hot. Was a busy place! Nice sized servings. Prices were resonable. Will be going back. Highly recommend this establishment!!!!!!!!!
PROS: Location, nice waitresses, excellent food, good prices
CONS:
Js Hobby Haven
We have purchased many items for our model trains at this store. They have a fairly good selection of items and staff is very helpful. They are very knowledgeable about many hobbies. They have been able to tell us where to purchase things that they did not have in stock.
PROS: friendly and helpful staff, location
CONS:
Cinemark 20
Several movies to choose from. Matinee prices are the best time to go. Have not purchased concessions---so not sure how there prices are. Most of the times that we have been there---there seems to a LOT of teenagers hanging around inside and out. Parents just seem to drop them off for the evening and let them do whatever. They are loud and roudy at times.
PROS: lots of choices
CONS: groups of teenagers hanging around
Amc Town Ctr 20
This is our favorite theater. We usually go to the matinee---since it is less expensive. They have stadium seating---so you do not have to worry about seeing over someones head/hat. Consessions are way overpriced---guess that is why some people bring their own. Seems to be well supervised indoors and out---unlike some other theaters we have been to that allow teenagers to hang around and get loud and roudy. Theaters are usually clean.
PROS: Lots to offer, friendly and helpful staff
CONS: parking can be awful---sometimes you have to walk a long way
Scrapbook Page
You will lose your mind in this store. LOL
Seriously they have EVERYTHING for scrapbooking---paper, stickers, die-cuts, embellishments, idea books, etc. They also have classes and workshops in their workarea. Staff has always been friendly and helpful when I was there. They have a website and will e-mail your monthly newsletters.
Great store! :)
PROS: helpful, friendly, everything you need to scrapbook
CONS:
