if you don't have the time to ebay or garage sale ggod condition toys and children clothing then once upon a child is a great resource. be prepared that it does take some time once you drop your items off. if you wait in the store for your *buy* then you're put on a list, but if you leave it and leave the store - you go to the bottom of the list and it could take all day.
G T South's Rib House
this is by far one of the best bbq places in town, although it's a little far to go for us now...it's still worth the drive, there is not much in the area so i bet they get passed up but they are so worth a chance if you are in the area and want the best pulled pig bbq sandwich in town
My Favorite Muffin & Bagel Cafe
if you are not in a huge hurry then this might be okay but to get in and out took FOREVER, the bagels are okay and i thought maybe the muffins might be better, but that was not the case. for a good muffin choice i'd still recommend panera bread anytime - or eisten bagel
Yellow Rose Carriages
This is a very unique and different wedding present to give those people that are very hard to buy for or that have everything. We bought a carriage ride for my brother and sil for their wedding present - put the certificate in a basket with a bottle of wine and glasses - very romantic
Wheel Fun Boat Rentals
My husband works on the canal and for the 4th of July they have a canal fest and we loved getting taking our girls for a paddle boat ride.... it's a great way to see a beautiful area of downtown and it's really not that hard to operate - even with 2 smaller kids..
96th Street Steakburgers
they are new to town and we took our kids a few weekends ago, they do make a really good hamburger and the french fries are awesome.... but my girls tend to like mcdonalds fries better...LOL but what can you do... they too loved the grilled cheese! and cheeseburger w/cheese. very good value for the money
The Childrens Museum
we have a family yearly membership and it's worth every single penny, not only do you get to ride the carousel for free (which is you don't have a memebership it's a 1.00 a ride) this can add up when you ride it 4 times in an outing times 4 people, they have great programs and classes. we have signed our older child up for some classes this fall and she is very excited.
Sawmill Building Systems
but beware going around the holidays it does tend to get PACKED, but we always make a trip to the mall around christmas to see Santa, get pictures taken and go to the Build a Bear store. We usually have a snack and play in the playground area, beware that it does get really really busy in this area on the weekends, better to go during the week in the am to meet other moms with smaller kids

i called to check on prices and schedule for b-day party themed activities, at this time they didn't offer alot for the 5 year old or younger set, but did plan on adding in the future - this would be an excellent idea for a very different and unique b-day party... you could have a fun party and everyone could take home something they created themselves

we have been pricing the delivery of mulch and prices on trees for this coming fall, they have a great selection and a very helpful and knowledgeable staff, we explained the layout of our yard - front and back and what our plans are and what kinds of trees we like and they gave us some great options and ideas, we will be purchasing alot from them in the near future
