For home-style comfort food in a relaxed setting with good conversation and service come by Cully's. The food is a little too pricey for daily consumption but it is good and worth a try.
Okay, here's the deal. The water at this restaurant comes from a special purifier and it is very, very refreshing. This place has great French toast in the mornings and of course, the Mexican dishes are spectacular too. The salsa served at the beginning of every meal is always perfect and the chips are fresh and tasty.
For hamburgers that are practically impossible to eat (unless your nose starts at your forehead) and killer fries, check this spot out. Any OB native can tell you that Hodads is the best around. How many license plates can you read in one sitting?
If you want to watch the game while eating huge, thin, greasy slices of pizza, for about a dollar each than this place in Poway is your best bet. The gyros are great too.
PROS: Comfort Food
CONS: May cause pizza face
The name of this restaurant is right on! Everything on the menu is fabulous! Try the fresh basil and garlic chicken fried rice - you have never had it better! They also have an amazing tofu potpie dessert.
CONS: I don't like the soup
If there was ever a place that should have been put on the historic landmark list, this was it. The city of San Diego sold this "the birth place of California" to a company that specializes in fast food vendors at stadiums. It is a crying shame that such a wonderful place had to be changed. On a side not, after 9/11, Bazaar Del Mundo pulled in more money that any other tourist attraction in California.
Usually when you go into a bank, there is an island for organizing paperwork for transactions and there is one line for the long table which seats several bankers on the other side. This Washington Mutual is different. The bankers are on little islands all over the branch. There is also a movie playing so you have something to look at while you are waiting.
I have partied here on weekends but I was surprised when a friend took me on a Tuesday and there was a whole Mexican menu with everything listed at $1.95. The food was good! The drinks were also cheap. I had a strawberry margarita and it was delicious. They have theme nights all week so check it out!
Arrive at the Chicken Pie Shop before 8pm (they close). Grab a SD Reader on the way in. When you are seated, order the chicken pie dinner. This comes with a fruit pie for desert. Eat and enjoy! Two dinners which is enough food to send you home waddling is about $14.
PROS: Great food and a hometown feel
CONS: Feeling like your a senior
Why go to Gap and pay $12 for a tank top when you can pay $5. Susie's Deals has great clothes and accessories for an amount that won't make your husband angry. This is also a great place to get fleece hoodies!
