Fred Meyer Pharmacy
It's big, it's clean, it has everything and if you can't find it, the helpful staff will tell you where it is. I was a stranger in town and the staff even gave me directions and recommendations for restaurants, hardware stores, even places to go and see.
This store was the highlight of my trip.
Burger Hut Inc
The atmosphere has to be experienced. It's a tiny little place filled with old friends and regular customers who either know what they want without looking at a menu or the waitresses know without asking.
The food is good, even if the selection isn't all that impressive and the portions are large. The prices are good, the waitresses keep your coffee cup filled and you go home full.
PROS: fries and cheese!
CONS:
Cummings Candy and Coffee
This place has everything an adventurous coffee drinker who loves excellent chocolate could want. Add to that the friendly service and wide array of beverages and candy, you can't go wrong.
It's the place in town that I can meet friends, family, children and grandchildren...
Hite's Bike Shop
I never knew that there were that many different kinds of bikes...something for everyone, every riding style, every size, shape, abilities and goals and you can be certain that when you purchase your bike there, you will have the best one for you in your price range!
The staff is friendly and certainly know their bikes. I've gotten expert advice, not only on bicycles, but on accessories, safely gear and riding clothes. This store has it all!
I highly recommend!
Sweeper City
Although I haven't been in the market for a new sweeper for quite some time, I have utilized the repair service of Sweeper City many times and love their service.
I am always happy wiht the work that they do, feel that the rates are more than reasonable and done in a timely manner. Leon has repaired my 1950 Singer Featherweight Sewing machine once and did a complete tune up on it once and I was very satisfied with both his work and the price.
Highly recommend!
PROS: knowledgable repairs
CONS:
JOANN Fabrics & Crafts
The quality of this JoAnn's store has declined a little each time I visited. There are piles of merchandise, bolts of fabric and dust bunnies all across the back of the store.
The store seems to be constantly understaffed. It's not unusual to wait for the person cutting fabric to finish with a customer to come to the register and ring up your order.
I"ve also noticed that the selection at this particular store is meager. They have eliminated many departments.
I rarely shop in this store these days. It's worth it to go the few extra miles to Cranberry where there is a bigger selection and adequate staff.
PROS:
CONS: Very messy
Butler Veterinary Assoc
These people are dog's new best friend. While using another vet, we had an after hours (5:15 pm) emergency. Our vet's answering machine told us to call the emergency veternarian (who are open 8pm to 8am). They were not open, their answeing machine said to call our own vet.
My daughter suggested her vet, Butler Veterinary Associates. We called them to find that not only do their hours cover the gap period, but that they would be delighted to help...for us to come on over.
My dog is like my baby, and they were so caring. They not only treated my dog knowledgably and with respect, but kept up a communication with us so that we were not left in the dark.
Their follow up care proved to us that the staff at BVA love what they are doing. I highly recommend them!
PROS: Reasonable rates, convenient hours, compassionate staff
CONS: They don't treat humans, lol
Old Country Buffet
When this restaurant opened, we were excited. We had eaten in the OCB in Erie many times with happy memories.
It seems as though the quality of the food has declined. It's certainly not a bargain, the food is heavy...makes you wonder if they do that so you don't eat as much.
On our last visit, and I mean very last, the desserts, the one redeeming feature of the restaurant, were dry looking as though they had been sitting there all day.
For the same price, there are many other restaurants in our area that will serve you a superb meal. Look for them!
Panera Bread
In our small town, unfamiliar tastes and foods aren't always welcome with open arms. Unless you specialize in pizza or tacos, you might have a wait before you are accepted.
I enjoy panera bread for a quick light meal at reasonable prices. The coffee is excellent and it's nice to sit and finish your coffee while reading the paper by the fireplace.
For our area, it's different, but not to be missed.
PROS: good food, nice atmosphere
CONS:
Harry's Auto Ctr
There are three things all women need in life: A best friend, a drycleaner who loves your cashmere sweaters as much as you do and a mechanic you can trust.
Harry doesn't do dry cleaning, but I not only trust him with my car, but with my kid's car as well.
I'm not sure how we got connected with Harry, but he's been our only mechanic for a few years now. What impresses me is that even though he's busy, he never gets upset when you call with questions.
Harry communicates. He doesn't shock you with the bill. You know what to expect. If there is a problem, he'll work with you to resolve it. He's a good mechanic and an all around nice guy...and he doesn't leave greasy fingerprints all over your car!
PROS: prompt and very courteous service. reasonable rates
CONS:
