The Gap is a great place to get your basics, solid colored shirts in a variety of cuts, skirts and the like. The store can be a litle expensive considering the cost it probably takes to make the clothing, but if you are lucky, you may catch a great sale. For example, I recently went there and got four shirts for only forty dollars. The staff was not particularly friendly and didnt stand out in my mind at all, however, I got some good clothing to wear to work and to play.
This store is great for those of us who love expensive haircare (shampoos, conditioners and everything else) but dont like to pay the expensive cost. Who knows how they do it, but they do. One can get some special offers when buying 'sets' of products, like $20 for shampoo/cond/hairspray, and other deals like that. Check it out in Pioneer Place.
This large chain pharmacy is such a bleek and depressing shopping experience. The staff is usually friendly (if they acknowledge you) and the store has a variety of things one might need. The store is very corporate, very drab and gray. Typically, it is not very busy at all, but one can expect to wait in a decent line before checking out. I recommed going acress the parking lot to New Seasons instead, a much happier and more welcoming spot.
CONS: corporate america at its finest
this grocery store is awesome. the people are always friendly and helpful, and you are guarenteed to have at least one conversation with a staff member. Buy local and organic foods here, but also find bigger name brand cereals and cookies. The produce is always fresh, as is the meat. Check it out for lunch, as they have made to order sandwiches, a wok bar and a salad bar. The sweets in the case as soon as you walk in are appetizing, as are the homemade deli salads. Check out New Seasons for all your grocery shopping needs.
PROS: friendly staff, good lunches
Trendy and swanky bar in the pearl. Very airy and open, with a stocked bar and stiff drinks. The drinks are pretty expensive, but you wont notice once you are a couple deep. The service is good and the desserts (the chipwich especially) are worth the trip. Beware, though, the waitress will recognize you the next day when you get dessert and coffee at 3 pm.
Good place to get lots of different kinds of bagels and sandwiches. Offers freshly baked bagels and long hours of operation so that getting a bagel does not have to be a morning experience. The egg sandwiches are highly recommended, but the ordinary cream cheese sandwich is delicious as well
Over-priced kitchen-ware store with almost everything imaginable that can be found in the kitchen or on the patio. Sells furniture and umbrellas for your outdoor party needs, as well as glassware and table settings. Check out the sale table in the middle of the store to find some good deals on rugs and curtains
CONS: ladies saying 'dont touch' over your shoulder
The Marriott hotel on Naito Pkwy is a nice place to get a room if you are new to the area and staying for a brief time. There is valet parking, complementary continental breakfast and a balcony on almost every room. Swim in the indoor pool or work out in the gym downstairs, accessed only with room keys. Large beds and friendly staff make the stay an enjoyable one.
The place to get containers for all reasons, kitchens, bathrooms and offices. Storables offers a lot of gadgets that one could probably live without. Offers baskets and storage bins to keep things out of the way and organized. Large selection of organizational tools and priced accordingly. If you are in the market for a bin, this is the place
Eccentric crowd with unusual menu. The items ready for ordering are all cleverly named, ensuring that someone was thinking when they created the sandwiches and salads. Great location on Alberta with outdoor seating in the back. Service is just mediocre and the food is not exceptional, but a nice change from regular dining
