Thai Roses
This sleepy little thai joint delivers sweet peanut sauce and a great cheap glass of red wine. It is authentic, and the service is great. Setting is traditional but not cluttered. Check out this restaurant and you won't be disappointed.
Bella Union Restaurant
Every time I am in Southern Oregon, this place is on my list. Nestled in beautiful, historic Jacksonville, this is one of THE best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. In the summer head out to the patio and enjoy some sun while munching on great salads, pizzas and pastas. Cocktails aren't bad either!
Sse Enterprises Inc
Went ehre jsut for cocktails and was surprised but this place. The decor is great with deep rich woods, dark red tapestry and hefty rod-iron. Partner that with some local jazz musicians playing what truly is live BACKGROUND music (not too loud or soft), and you ahve a great evenning. Drinks are neat and servers are friendly.
Cameo Cafe West
People have flocked this joint for years because of its great location near 23rd street. However, I am continually diappointed with the service here. The are slow and inattentive. For a better meal, move futher up the street to Sammy's where service is stellar, the food is better and prices are lower.
Cadillac Cafe
Like most breakfast joints in Porland, this place will more than likely have a bit of a wait on the weekends. Rest assured, it is well worth it. Start with a bloody mary and then move on to some great, flavorful egg dishes that are not addorned with the usual grease of other breakfast joints. Fresh incredients and great service make this place a great pick!
Richard Herrera About Hair
I was a frequenter of this salon for almost a year but have changed my tune. I have been passed around from stylist several times, found it hard to make appointments, and in general found the attention to customer service to be lacking. I will say that when I could get in with my stylist, Debra, she did an amazing job. But the overall treatment I recieved left me in search of a better salon. Don;t believe the hype--this place isn't worth the $200.
Gypsy Restaurant & Velvet Lng
Here is what you do...head to the Gypsy, get loaded and then go back for greasy hangover breakfast the next morning. I am not kidding you, the breakfast is pretty darn good. Just as long as you aren't pained by the memory of the previous night's debacle or the subtle stench of cigarettes. Many a fun time has been had at the Gypsy Lounge.
PROS: party bowls, fun and diverse crowd, smoking on one side
CONS: the non smoking side still gets a bit smoky
Henry's 12th Street Tavern
This place is a hotspot so be prepared to wait. It is well worth it and has something for everyone. Pool upstairs keeps the gentlemen happy while the divided bar and restaurant offers beautiful people and a place worth getting dolled up for. Try the seared ahi salad--very good. For happy hour, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. If you are looking to meet a 30-something businessman in a suit, head there after work and soak up a martini barside.
Gray Whale
Had a great time here. The small cabins are quaint but clean and have amazing beds. Haven't slept this great--ever! Ask for the feather bed addition and you will not be disappointed. It is quiet and just a few feet from the beach. Will definitely go back!
Yoga In The Pearl
Tried hot yoga for the first time at this studio and they are great. Staff is friendly and not elitist, and they have a great special--try three classes for $15! They weren;t intimidating at all and the decor is as soothing as the istructors.
