Handy Pantry Food Store
When I lived near the Handy Pantry I went there every day. They have what you want but the family that owns it is great. They are incredibly friendly and really a part of the community. When I went on vacation I sent them a post card.
Powell S Books
I love Powells. They have used copies next to the new copies so you can make an easy decision. They buy books at a fair price and with store credit you can get anything. I don't live near Portland anymore but you can bet, every time I come back I will go to Powells.
Rei
I use to drive over an hour just to hang out here. I've purchased a lot of gear at this store. They have everything and you can test it all out before hand. The staff know their products. Plus the free standing climbing wall is free if you're a member and... who isn't a member? If you're visiting the Northwest stop by it's just a cool place to be. If you live in the Seattle area and don't know about it then you obviously don't participate in outdoor sports.
Boston Duck Tours
If you come to Boston, move here or live here already and haven't taken a duck tour you really need to. It's totally awesome and fun and very cheesey. I took one on my birthday and greatly enjoyed it. Plus, when you go out into the middle of the Charles they let anyone who wants to drive! Awesome!
Blanco Family Medicine
Dr. Vivian Blanco is without a doubt the best doctor I have ever had (I tend to injure myself often and I've seen a fair number of doctors). I didn't get to see her many times because I don't have insurance but she took my stitches out and helped me get the care I needed. She would answer questions over the phone and simply be awesome. If I still lived in Olympia and had insurance I would go to no one else.
Shaw's Supermarket
They do have food. What can you really expect from a supermarket in the middle of a city. I go there and I pay their prices and the people are neither friendly nor mean. What can you say, it is what it is.
Trader Joe's
And you can't beat the prices. They don't have a fresh produce section. But everything else is great. I love buying the Trader Joe's brand things. It's great to stop by and pick up a few things on your way home and not put a hole in your wallet. (**cough cough** Whole Foods)
Eliot Hotel
Man, if you're going to stay in Boston, you might as well do it in style. The suites have living rooms and are actually as big as my apartment. (I didn't stay here but my parents do when they come to Boston) You can't beat the location. The breakfasts at Clio's downstairs are awesome. I suggest the omlet.
Whole Foods Market
I love Whole Foods. They have all the organic/ vegetarian/ hippie stuff I'm looking for. It's just so damn expensive. C'est la vie. I still shop here regularly, only I try to buy the things I can't get anywhere else and buy the cheaper canned and boxed goods elsewhere.
Radiance Herbs & Massage
I love buying herbs from the massive wall of bulk jars. You can make your own tea or buy their pre-mixed selection. I never got a massage here but I knew people who did and they said they were great!
