This hotel came highly recommended by some friends when I decided to make a little impromptu trip to Disneyland. We were very pleasantly surprised to find a room that comfortably slept 5 (there was a rollaway in the closet). The walk to Disneyland was probably just as long as if you were staying at Paradise Pier, because you don't walk through Downtown Disney to get to the maingate if you're staying at HoJo's. There is a Mimi's Cafe, a McDonald's and a Millie's Cafe next to the hotel. There are two swimming pools and you can purchase your Disneyland tickets at the hotel instead of standing in line at the Park. The rooms were spacious and clean. Water pressure in the showers were adequate. If I can't get into one of the Disney properties at a decent price, this is where we stay. They accept Entertainment Card and AAA card for discounts, so call and they will do whatever they can to get you the best rate possible. Some rooms have microwaves, some have a view of the fireworks, some are suites. So its best to call them with your needs and they can figure out the rest! Ask for Willie Simpson.....he's great!
I have had my homeowners, 3 cars and rental house insurance with Ed for the last 7 years and have never had a problem. I have had 2 claims, one was a fire in my rental and the other was a robbery/break-in in my home. Both claims went very smoothly. There was never any argument with the insurance company over the value of our property. Claim payments were recieved very promptly. I have suggested to all my friends to give Ed a try!
What a great store for anyone on a budget! It is filled with discontinued merchandise from Disneyland. You might find stuff with the wrong size label sewn in, or last years t shirts. Or just plain overstocked merchandise. No matter what, you never know what you'll find. It is an outlet store, so merchandise is constantly changing. Everything is separated into departments, so if you need a baby outfit for that upcoming baby shower you don't have to search the whole store. And if you've got a bunch of kids that you know will want souvenirs from the Park, stop here first, they even carry toys. I saw a shirt I wanted at Disneyland once but it cost $60, so I didn't buy it. A few months later, there it was in the Character Outlet for only $16!!
We wanted to take our friends out for some good Prime Rib the other night and we remembered that Hotel Del Rio had fantastic prime rib at fantastic prices. There were 3 sizes to choose from, Petite at about $20, Regular at $25, and Ranch Hand at $29. You pretty much serve yourself at this place. Salad bar was OK, they offered potato salad and fruit in addition to the usual salad fixin's. After the salad, we went to get our dinner. I ordered medium rare, but it seemed more like medium to me. The meat was tender but didn't have alot of flavor. There was also alot of fat on it. The girls ordered Malibu Rum and cranberry juice and they used regular house rum. The guys ordered Hurricanes and they weren't even close! It tasted like they made them with tequila. They were terrible drinks. For dessert some of our party had Spumoni ice cream, but it was swirled with chocolate, YUCK. My bread pudding was very dry and the sauce they poured on top was so incredibly hot, it burned the inside of my mouth. I doubt we will be returning to Hotel Del Rio. Its a shame, they used to have such a good reputation of having great food and affordable.
I used to take my kids here to play miniature golf but now that they are much older they come here for the batting cages. The batting cages are big and all the kids seem to work together and take turns, even when they are from opposing cities or schools! The arcade is alot of fun, too. They are always changing the games, so there is always something new. The snack bar is your typical snack bar food--microwaved and stale!
This place has charm. Its located in the Centromart shopping center in a very old strip mall. There are only 2 chairs and 2 barbers, so sometimes you have to wait, but its worth it. Its the only place my husband has ever found that can control his unruly hair! My kids have gone there ever since we moved to Oakley. It is THE place for all the old timers to sit and talk and have coffee. Reminds me of the barber shop in "Remember the Titans".
It's kind of expensive to get started at Planet Tan, but after the initial investment, you just add on "points" for more tanning sessions. There are many different kinds of tanning machines and each is a different point value, so if you go with the cheaper tanning bed, your points last longer. One thing I like about Planet Tan is that I always feel like its very clean. I see them go in and thoroughly clean each room before they let the next person enter. The girls are very nice, but they can be a little intimidating for a middle aged Momto do business with. They are gorgeous, well tanned, thin, 18-21 year old girls. But they're all so nice, you just can't hold that against them!
I bought all my kids BMX bikes here when they were little, and then they started selling paintball supplies, too. It used to be hit or miss with the operating hours, but they have improved. They know those paintballers get up darn early on the weekends and when they need paint, they need it NOW. One of my son's recently took his old Schwinn 10-speed in for an overhaul. This bike was an oldie and they only charged $50 to replace both tires, a new chain and tune-up the whole bike! Basically, he now has a brand new bike--definetely cheaper than driving a car!
This little embroidery business is run out of Jan's converted garage. Her prices are very good and she is always donating something to the local schools or community organizations. Honestly, I don't know how she makes any money! She does all the Little League uniforms, high school letterman jackets, plus all the other business she acquires. It doesn't matter if you have a $15,000 order or a $15 one, everyone is treated the same. All my business goes to Jan, and if you want silkscreen, her sister Jaye has a business about 4 houses down--called Oak Tees!
I have been using this company for 13 years now and have always been very satisfied. They are quick to come out and the service charges are only $30! If I have questions about my other appliances, they are always willing to help me out. Ask for Lyle, he's the best.
