Peninsula Beauty Supply
The only times that I actually FIND something worth buying here are during the days when Burlingame Avenue has sidewalk sales or festivals. That's when they bring out some stuff, and you can find something that's DECENTLY PRICED. But when I just go in to browse, and I'm in need of something, I never find what I want for the deal I want. Once, I was looking for a straightener, and the SALESLADY recommended I can find it cheaper at the store across the street!
Janie & Jack
This is a really cute baby store (like we needed ANOTHER one on Burlingame Avenue), but with some not-so-cute prices. I agree that they have some really good quality clothing but it's not like they have anything that Baby Gap or the Gymboree don't have for MUCH lower prices!
Burlingame Smoke Shop
If you need gum or a magazine or whatever really fast, this is the place to go. It's a nice, cozy store on the corner of Burlingame Ave. One thing that everybody always agrees on is that the owner is really nice. Everybody knows him, and he loves to talk to his customers. Once I went there really early in the morning for some quarters (which he usually doesn't make change) and he made an exception. The one thing I dont' like about this store is the outside. There are benches in front of the store where guys sit and smoke REALLY STRONG cigars. Blah.
The Gala
If you're one of those people who LOVE designer clothing (and I don't mean Tommy Hilfiger or Ralph Lauren, either), then this is the place for you. It's fun to even just browse here, the prices are that high. The sales associates are really nice though (surprisingly for such a "classy" place). I've never shopped here, 'cuz I've never found a sale.
Les Deux Copines
I've always thought this was a cute store when I passed it. So, when I was out shopping with my friend, we decided to check it out. It has a cool design (the store itself) - sort of like a New York apartment or something like that. It was funky and bohemian. The clothes were good quality but WAY overpriced. Just because the name is French doesn' t mean the prices have to be from a Parisian boutique. Customer service to put it bluntly was horrible. Most of the salespeople seemed stuck up, and you were lucky if you even got a 'hello' from them.
WET SEAL
I always used to hear people RAVE about Wet Seal, and I decided to try it. I always find something here when I'm NOT looking for it. The staff here are "average", but get SUPER, suger-coaty fake nice if you buy something. Last time I was here, they had a great sale - practically EVERYTHING was buy one get one free. It's kind of like Forever 21 but much better quality.
Picture People
The atmosphere of this place alone is great. When you walk in, you'll see colorful balls, cushy chairs, and pillows all over the place so your kids already feel 'safe'. My little brother is in preschool and they recently had their "school photo" taken at the Picture People with a Hawaiian theme, and it was SO adorable. We have the little snapshots hung up all over the house. It's great for kids, but if you're a teenager and want to take pics with your friends, I don't think they have the kind of backgrounds you'd want.
Ultratan
This is my new dentist, and I found them by chance. They're near the Burlingame side (almost near Millbrae). I recently got a filling from them this week, and it was quick, and the needle for the anasthetic didn't hurt at all. Why I chose them in the first place is because they make you feel welcome. I just talked to them on the phone to find out something and it was after hours, but they don't mind. They'll let you know everything. I love this office.
Burlingame High School
I go to this school, and it's good. It's not anything special, but it's cool. They have a great sports program (awesome soccer team) and an OLYMPIC sized pool. They have great, challenging classes so the students don't get bored. I like that you can take as many courses and at any difficulty level that you want. We also have many different clubs (we need more ethnic clubs, though). We have great events ( I love the international food fair). The foreign language program is awesome (I had a blast in French class). I'm joining mock trial next year. We should have a debate team.
Forever 21
I LOVE THIS STORE! I used to go to the one in Hillsdale Shopping Center, but if I'm feeling like doing some really serious shopping, I go to the one in Frisco, of course! It has 3 floors jampacked with clothes, accessories, and people (unfortunately ;). They have really cute tops and I especially love their track jackets. They currently have "country" jackets with Brasil, England, USA, etc...I also love their New York stuff (got to rep my birthplace!). They're overall cute, cheap, and a great place to shop with your friends.
