I was reminiscing about my wedding in 2000 and decided to write a review. I used Wedding Group One in 2000 when I got married, a long time ago, I suppose, but I STILL get compliments on my wedding photos, I am so happy that I had them do my wedding photos. Anyone who sees them says they are amazing. I also had my wedding makeup done by them and I have never looked better in my entire life. Even my picky, hard to please aunt complimented me on my wedding day and said it was worth every penny I paid to get my makeup done by them.
I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about, this is the absolute best deal for a foot massage ever - $15 for 1 hour and it includes a foot soak, a back rub and a long foot massage. I'm right up there with the Burke Williams crowd and I've taken everyone from my mother in law to the pickiest spa go-er and they are all amazed at the value here and how awesome they feel afterwards. All want to come back. Admittedly, this is more of a deep tissue massage but for people who like firm pressure, no frills and don't mind the lack of English speaking masseurs, they will be ecstatic here. If the atmosphere is not that important to you, you should be happy. The place is clean too. I've never had the body massage so I won't vouch for that but the $15 foot massages are awesome. I found a great masseur and I use him all the time, I do think that some of the masseurs may not be as good but try a few different people.
I have been going to Ally for my cut & color for the past couple of years. She does an amazing job at a great price. I tried many salons before and it was very difficult for me to "make the move" from my old hairstylist but I just couldn't keep driving across town for my hair appointments anymore. I tried many different people in the Pasadena area that were recommended by people I trusted but none of the stylists seemed to be that great. Ally is great because she does what I want, she listens to me and adds subtle highlights (which is what I ask for - I don't think anything is much worse than an Asian woman with bad highlights!). She charges reasonable rates too. People ask me where I go to get my hair done and I've recommended Ally before alot. Now that she has moved to a new salon, the experience is even better - I can arrange to get a mani/pedi on the same trip! Give her a try if you're looking for someone new.
I discovered HA last year and I love it. The clothes are bright and well-made. All the sales associates at this store are very helpful and nice. They have an excellent website and you can order from the web or the store will ship to you too. They have a generous return policy although it's rarely needed for me since I love almost everything I buy from there.
My daughter loves the clothes as well since everything is really comfortable. They are especially well-known known for their girls' playdress/legging sets and their zippers & long johns. As usual, their girls clothing is more interesting than the boys clothes but there is something for everyone here. I only wish the company would open another store closer to my house so I wouldn't have to pay so much in shipping costs or drive so far to the closest store.
They have 2 big sales a year, one in June and the other before Christmas so if you can wait until then to buy, you can get some good deals.
I've been looking for a place in Pasadena to get my eyebrows waxed and finally I found the right place for me. I read the reviews on Rebecca and decided to try her out. The reviews were accurate, she is great! My brows look clean & neat and she is a very nice, pleasant person. It costs $20 for an eyebrow wax, plenty of convenient appt. times (they are even open on Sundays) and easy parking on the street. I will be back as a regular.
Baby Cakes offers very cute items for babies and children's rooms. They also carry clothing and some maternity items. They have a website at www.babycakesla.com. You can custom order crib bedding in the most unique vintage patterns. The owner is very helpful and sweet. They also carry all kinds of wall art and furniture to furnish a child's room and have great baby gifts. I was really impressed with the store, there isn't much comparable out there on this side of town.
PROS: Darling baby & children's items
We used their service a few years ago when we needed to babyproof the house. Basically, they send a van to your house and they will take care of installing baby gates, drawer latches, securing heavy furniture, etc. They did a great job, everything was done super fast and prices were reasonable. I think there was a $250 minimum but we needed 2 baby gates installed and alot of other things so it all worked out fine. It was much easier than having to buy all the items and then nag my husband to install it.
PROS: Easy babyproofing service
I recently had my hair cut by Ally. She did a great job, I was happy with the results and I plan on going back. She asked me alot of questions about what I did and did not like about past hairstylists. She is friendly and easy to talk to.
We met Karen last year after reading the great recommendations on Insider Pages. She was very sweet, came out to our house to meet with us and give us a quote. She showed us some pictures of her work which was good. However, we were looking for some ideas for our garden and she didn't have much to offer us. Plus, when she tried to give us a ballpark quote, it was just a "guesstimate" and sounded way over what I had received from others. Basically, I didn't think she sounded very professional and for the prices she was quoting, it didn't seem worth following through with her. We met with several other landscapers after her that had alot more to offer in terms of ideas and pricing and just seemed to be more professional.
I am currently under Dr. Jick's care. Dr. Jick was highly recommended to me from several people. I hear he specializes in fertility issues and multiples although I fell in neither category and have been having a routine pregnancy. He has been great so far during this (my second) pregnancy. He has a calm demeanor and the office staff is friendly. His practice seems to balance just the right amount of care (e.g. # of ultrasounds) without being either too cautious or too relaxed. I hear that Dr. Lewen has left the practice so if you're looking for a woman OB, I don't think there is one associated with their office anymore. Dr. Jick's wife offers facials and other skin care treaments in the office as well but I have not tried any of those services.
PROS: Friendly, competent care; nice staff
CONS: Doesn't take HMO insurance
