Thanh Huong Sandwich
The difficult parking at the Senter Road store is worth it. Its easier to get to the store off Capitol. This small store is the one your mom would make you go to if she was craving a sandwich. Their pate is amazing and makes their sandwiches the best of the best in San Jose.
Huong Lan Sandwich
Huong Lan sandwiches are some of the best Vietnamese sandwiches in San Jose. There is never a real line here so you have to be aggressive. In addition to sandwiches, there are many other choices to choose from. You can have delicious iced coffee and their great beef jerky too.
Bubble Act
Bubble act has the best service of any pearl tea house in town. The guys behind the counter are friendly and bring out your drinks and food orders with a big smile. Their fried chicken and thai iced tea are so good. Their fried squid is very original and are fun to eat too. You can stay here for hours watching movies and no one will bother you.
Abc Sea Food Restaurant
2ABC serves decent dim sum in the mornings. A couple of years back, I found a hair in one of the dumplings. Despite that, their dinner package is also very good. Their lobster curry was so delicious! And since my friend was Chinese, our table received very good service.
Clover Bakery & Cafe
Clover bakery is a hidden gem! If you want tasty Japanese breads, come here! There are so many choices that satisfy your salty and sweet tooth. The breads are best to bring home so you can toast them up. The prices are really reasonable too. Remember that they are closed on Mondays.
St John Vianney School
All of the parish members are great. Some Sundays at 9 o'clock, the elementary school choir sings. It is very cute. Afterwards, there is sometimes great food that is sold following mass. It is much better to eat here for cheaper than buy an expensive Sunday brunch for the family.
Crossroads Trading Co
The San Francisco shop near UCSF has a better and bigger selection than the San Jose store, but parking here is a lot easier and there are many good finds for a small amount of money. Bring a bunch of used clothes that you don't wear anymore to trade for new used ones.
Bookbuyers
This place has a good selection of cheap second hand books. They even buy your books back for a small chunk of change. The cookbooks here are great and so are the employees. Parking on Castro street can be crowded so prepare wait and get lucky for a parking spot.
East West Bookshop
This is a great little bookstore for people into alternative healing or activities such as yoga or pilates. It is on the great Castro street with many cool shops. The workers here are very helpful but you might have to park a couple of blocks away on this very busy street.
Fantasy Party Supply
The roses here are the best in San Jose. They are big and bright, yet very inexpensive. The only downfall is that they are wrapped in newspaper and you can't present it as a gift right away. Other flowers are great too. The store also has a huge selection of baskets, balloons, ribbon, and wrapping paper. Look carefully for this place, it is hard to find at first.
