Freed's Home Furnishings
Family-owned business for decades in Dallas. Wonderful selection of every genre of furniture, including mattresses and box springs, reliable delivery and customer service.
PROS: Beautiful furniture at competetive prices.
CONS:
Javier's Gourmet Mexicano
Delicious Mexican food that's more Mexico City, less TexMex. Black bean soup and sides are wonderful. More upscale than many Mexican food restaurants.
PROS: Great Mexico City style Mexican food.
CONS:
Campisi's Restaurant
I've been frequenting this original Campisi's location since I was a kid growing up in Dallas, and the quality has never changed. You can always count on wonderful pizza on the thinnest crust you'll have anywhere, and lasagna that's to-die-for.
PROS: Great reputation for 50 years!
CONS:
st. martins
Wonderful piano brunch on Sundays, but fabulous food any time of day or evening. Great first date choice. Warm ambiance and really, really classy. You'll love this Dallas tradition.
PROS: Great food, fabulous Sunday piano brunch.
CONS:
Snuffer's Restaurant & Bar
A neighborhood hangout for generations, which means they're certainly doing some things right! Outdoor patio is great when weather permits. Homemade french fries can't be beat.
PROS: Great burgers! I want one now!
CONS:
Cotton Kisses
Unique, unusual and gorgeous separates. Bejeweled t's like no other; Sofft shoes are to die for, and wait until you get a look at Kathy Van Zeeland's handbags. You won't believe the bling!
PROS: Beautiful items, upscale shop, great window!
CONS:
Two Guys From Italy
The pasta dishes are good, mostly traditional favorites, like spaghetti, lasagna and other pasta dishes. Neighborhood families have been patronizing Two Guys for years.
PROS: Reliable, basic.
CONS:
el Fenix Mexican Restaurants
Every time I've eaten at El Fenix, I've remembered why the last time I swore I'd never go there again. The food just doesn't hold up to the Tex-Mex available at SO MANY other restaurants. Salsa is yukky. Chips are stale. Food's just not good.
PROS: Food's not worth it.
CONS:
Congregation Shearith Israel
A great preschool program is a major draw to many families. Wonderful staff and Rabbis. A beautiful place for a wedding, bar and bat mitzvahs, and good facilities for a reception and parties.
PROS: The choice of many native Dallasites.
CONS:
Kelly Services
At a time in my life when I really needed help getting employed, Kelly Services worked with me, keeping me working with almost no lapses. Kelly has managed to keep its place among all the new agencies that have sprung up since outsourcing has become so popular.
PROS: With a long history, Kelly knows what it's doing.
CONS:
