I don't know if this place is really family run - but they have the atomsphere and feeling that they are because they seem to really care about you. I'm normally a Home Depot fan but when I was helping my father in law - we stopped at this place and I was very impressed. They have a wide selection of everything you would need and take the time to help you out. I think I would prefer to visit this place again!
To me this just seemed like a unique to Seattle gift shop but my wife loves the place. They have tons of little gift giving things - reminded me a lot of Hallmark but not so chain store feeling. I think she could spend hours in that store buying little presents for people. The prices seemd to be pretty good though. And they have locations all over Seattle so you can pop into almost any of them and pick up a quick present.
Grassis was the prime location for all of the high school dance events to get corsages and bouts. The prices were always reasonable and the flowers looked beautiful and were always ready on time. The workers generally seemed to enjoy their jobs and working with flowers.
Jillians is the perfect hang out place for those that are not drinkers or not old enough to drink yet. It has the atmosphere of a club. There are plenty of pool tables, room for dancing, a decent grill menu, etc. The staff can be a little annoying sometimes but understandable probably with the wide variety of people they probably have to put up with on a daily basis.
If you have the money to retire well, this would be the place to stay. With beautiful spacious rooms, a view of the Narrows Bridge, and plenty of activities and events to cater to every type . .. .you wouldn't be bored here. I knew some ladies that lived here and they loved it. They were well taken care of by friendly staff and well fed and had very few complaints.
Meadow Parks is hidden in the middle of University Place and Lakewood. It is a decent course of 18 holes. They do offer golf lessons for your children at a great price with good instructors. Take them during the summer when the weather is a little warmer! This isn't a PGA course but a good one nonetheless.
This is a beautiful cemetary with well kept gardens and lawns. The employees in the funeral home are very knowledgeble and will help you find the perfect spot to bury your loved one keeping in mind your interests as far as trees and plants that are growing near by. Plots are spaced far enough apart and you can purchase as singles, couples, or family sections in different areas of the cemetary.
I came here to get a tan for my high school prom. They had a special where I got a month of tanning for half price! It was definitely worth it. They were able to get me in at almost any time that I wanted to and the staff that worked there was always so friendly and tried to remember who you were - especially if you are a repeat customer.
I didn't know much about making jewelry but visited the Bead Factory on suggestion from a friend and loved it! The prices can be a little expensive if you want to purchase everything you could need to make all of your own jewelry .. .but just buy it a little a time and you'll be fine. The staff is very helpful in showing you how to use everything and helping you find only what you are looking for. I like that they don't sell you more than you would need.
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is fun all year round from the regular zoo visits to the Zoolights - holiday display - in the winter time. The polar bears and the aquarium full of sharks and other sea creatures are definitely the highlights. It's a great place to take visitors because the zoo does have an extensive Aquarium and Marine area that isn't found at all the zoos in the country. Prices are pretty reasonable - especially if you get a season pass.
