My mom spent a lot of time at this hospital during her battle with cancer. I was so impressed with the staff! Their oncology area was so upbeat and positive but also didn't really beat around the bush. It was an interesting mix but you could tell they really cared about the people they were helping and tried to make the stays as pleasant as they possibly could.
I would have to say these are the nicest apartments in our little city. They are located in the perfect location and are decent sized. I have visited many friends that moved to these apartments and they have appreciated the good size of the places and how the appliances and fixtures seemed to be updated regularly. The only downside is this place is right next to the fire station so you have to learn to ignore that noise.
Honest Car Shops are sometimes a dime in a dozen so this is a good one to know. I had to have my car towed here after it broke down and they were able to quickly figure out the problem and get my car back and running. I was impressed that they dealt with me honestly as a female too and didn't try and pull things over my head to get more money out of me.
Although not as big as the city library in Tacoma, it is a very good library. A new building was constructed to house the library in the 90's and it has grown since then to become a really good library system. The librarians are the best thing about this place! They are soo helpful and willing to give you suggestions for any type of book you are looking for. A good hold system as well for those books you are waiting to read.
Consists of 4 elementary schools, two middle schools and one junior high and high school. Faculty and teachers were excellent. The high school is known for its high education, music programs and sports programs. Kids are encouraged to be involved in everything and there is a tight community since you go to school with many of the same people from kindergarten through high school. People have been known to move to University Place just for the school system.
This is the main cleaners in the city of University Place. They are next to the grocery store so it is convenient to leave your stuff here on your way to do other errands. They will hem up and fix clothes for you as well which was handy for me when I couldn't do it myself.
My family and I used to go to this Care Center and play the piano and help with craft time. It is a very clean care facility and very open in the layout. The staff was always really friendly and even though I think many of the patients didn't really have a concept of what was going on - they seemed to be well taken care of. They opened up a newer division for people that were even more sick as well.
Narrows Plaza 8 is a hangout spot since it's the only theater in University Place. Unfortunately it is not what it used to be! Tickets are pretty pricey considering it is not even stadium seating or anything. But the theater, even though its old, is still very clean and well maintained. And you don't usually have a problem getting into the movies that you want to see!
Growing up in University Place, we always received the News Tribune. It was a great paper that really made you aware of what was going on in the local community. They highlighted a lot of local people and especially local high school sports which was great since other papers sometime seem to neglect that area. They have a great online website as well and I felt like they try and stay neutral in their reporting.
The Centre at Norpoint isn't too close to where I live but it was worth the trip. I had a friend that was working there at the time and she invited me to come and check it out. Maybe I wasn't expecting too much but I was very impressed! All the facilities and accomodations were top notch. The kids that were in classes really seemed to enjoy it and I had a fun time working out here. I was given a tour of the facility and all my questions were answered. Definitely worth checking out - especially if you live close to it!
