After visiting the newer, bigger Bales in Cedar Mill this Thriftway is a welcome change. The produce is great, the deli is nice and the cashiers are friendly. It doesn't seem as expensive as the Cedar Mill Bales and the atmosphere is much more comfortable.
I don't think that Bales Thriftway is great for everyday shopping, it's just too expensive. The produce department is very nice and the bakery is superb. The cashiers are friendly, but getting help in the actual store is always difficult. It's a large store so there is a lot of selection but be ready to fork out more money than at the local Safeway. It's recently been bought out and the Bales don't own it anymore. It will be interesting to see if there are changes made. The store is beautiful and clean but unless you have money to spare, do your big shopping somewhere else.
The Sunset Bakery has a very, very small selection of items. If you find something that you like there and keep returning there for it then it will work fine for you. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, though, this is not the place for you. When I went in there were no pastries, just different rolls and breads. It was not the kind of bakery that you worry will tempt you to break your diet because there just isn't irresistible items available.
This church is a great place to bring the kids. They'll actually be begging to go to church. The congregation is large and they are very supportive. The senior women of the church treat the young children like their own, teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. This gives the parents a chance to worship too without always having to do all the volunteering. They have so many kids that the activities are exciting and fun while still teaching the kids right from wrong.
Dr. Daniel Yaillen is a soft spoken man that is very kind. There are a lot of good dentist out there but it is nice to see a man that is willing to give back to the community. He has donated to several school functions and causes. It's nice to meet a man that is genuine and caring with his patients. He has been in the community for decades.
The Tire Factory can surely pride themselves on their friendly and accomadating employees. The one word to describe them is "quick". When my husband needed something in a hurry, they jumped right on it and rotated some brake drums while he waited. Other places had told him he would have to leave the work to be completed later. Their prices are very reasonable, their product good, but the service is outstanding.
Initially The Lakes looked like a great place to live. The apartments are nice and the grounds are very pretty. The trouble is that there are a lot of first time renters that have no comprehension that other people sleep at night and it was way too noisy. The management did very little to assist in the problem. After the 1 year lease was up it was easy to see that the area is teeming with brand new apartments, in better shape for the same price or less. These aren't bad apartments, but there are much better for your money.
The Oregon Eye Specialists have some very good opthamolagists. I first went to Dr. Cech and was very satisfied. The second trip I made was to Jeffrey Garrett, OD. I found him to be curt and difficult to contact. I felt uncomfortable and like I was bothering him by showing up. He also works at the Tualatin Clinic and so you may have to travel to get an appointment with him. The next time I need a regular eye exam I will go to this clinic but if I need a contact specialist I will look elsewhere.
The therapists at the Hand Center of Oregon are wonderful. They have a gentle way of healing that makes you look forward to going to physical therapy. They work under the premise of heal and then strengthen. They deal with heat and massage, exercise comes when the client is ready. The therapists are very friendly and seem genuinely interested in the lives of their patients. The only disappointing part is when the therapy is over.
Dr. Rick White at the Cedar Mill Veterinary Hospital has a very kind heart for animals. He has a true love of the animals. If you are in a bind and your pet needs something very expensive he has even been known to make payment arrangements, which is often unheard of at other clinics. They also board pets here at a reasonable price. If your animal is here you don't need to worry that it is being properly taken care of.
