Wherehouse Music almost always has what you're looking for. The great part is that you can often find that hard to find DVD or CD used. The prices of the used items are quite reasonable. The salespeople are very helpful. This is a store that has all varieties of music in one store, not just the most popular items. They have specials that can often beat the national chain stores. The only problem here is you may walk out with something that you hadn't intended to buy because its all so tempting.
St. Vincent Hospital has a wonderful staff of nurses that are caring and professional. The doctors are terrific but its the nurses that set this hospital apart. They are welcoming to families and friends and make you feel comfortable in the hospital setting. I have visited people in the maternity ward and it is awesome. The Neonatal ICU is phenomenal. They are great with young mothers and understanding of anxious visitors. The hospital has many private waiting rooms for those with friends and relatives in surgery. There is plenty of good food while you wait too.
Borders has a huge selection of books in every genre you could imagine. The staff is well informed and when they aren't sure they can quickly find the answers on their computers. You can order books you want on the computer without consulting a salesperson if you want, also. They also have music and videos. The cafe is delightful so you can buy a book and then sit in the cafe, enjoy a latte and read your new book. They offer an educators discount with proper id.
Gart Sports has a big inventory of sports items, athletic shoes and athletic clothing. The store is divided by sport and it is easy to find what you're looking for. What might not be so easy to find is a sales representative. If you don't find what you're looking for, many times you're on your own. Employees don't seem to be aware of what there is in departments other than their own, so you may not get the answers you're looking for. The variety of shoes is impressive and the prices are good.
Frys has everything under the sun as far as electronics goes. The store is divided in a way that makes it easy to find what you're looking for. They have some refurbished items at a discount. The repair department is quick and reasonable. The only disadvantage is that it is miles out of the way from Beaverton or Portland. They have a very large ad in the Oregonian and often have the lowest prices around. The employees seem knowledgable and friendly..
The Olive Garden not only has great food but they also have great service. They have a large wine selection and a full bar, plus a great line up of desserts. Their Portabella Ravioli is great and the salad with breadsticks are wonderful. They serve a reasonably priced lunch and the wait isn't long. Dinner tends to be busier but it is worth the wait. If you have a large group it may take a little longer to get seated but they are good about bringing the food at the same time and dividing the check.
Made In Oregon is a great place to take out of towners. They have items that are made in Oregon or represent Oregon. They also have a huge variety of foods and wines that are produced locally. The jewelry they have is made by local artists so if you need adjustments or want something a little different, they will contact the artist for you and make arrangements for you to get the jewelry,.U of O Duck fans and Beavers, there are shirts, cups, key chains, etc in your school colors. There are a number of local musicians who have their CD's here too.
The Walking Company has a huge variety of shoes that are not only practical but also stylish. They have the popular brands and the good old standbys but the prices are what I have issue with. If you find something you like, you can then go to another shoe store and hope that they are on sale, because things are rarely on sale at the Walking Company. If what you want it something that is the same price everywhere then this store will work, but I'd suggest shopping around. They also offer some great walking sticks for people that don't want an old fashioned cane.
It's tough to find a new stylist and it's scary too. When I wanted to change hairdressers I asked people that I saw, that had nice hair, where they went. That's how I found Stage 4. I have had great luck there and have also started some friends going there too, and I have never seen a bad "do". The prices aren't cheap but better than some salons I've been to. I go to one of the ownere, Jeanne, and she does great at colors and weaves. They are good, so you have to make your appointment well ahead of time.
La-z-boy Gallery has more recliners than I ever knew existed. If you're serious about purchasing a chair, you'll find it here. They offer the sales that you hear about on television. It is located next to other furniture and rug stores so you can get a lot of shopping done in one stop, if you are redecorating. Even if you don't want to buy here you can get an idea of what may be available at other stores with lazyboy chairs.
