Massers Motel is located on Patrick street up the Golden Mile going towards the mountains and right next door to the 7-11 on Old Camp Road. It's not much to look at from the outside and the rooms inside are just about that. Not much to look at. The one my cousin stayed in was sort of clean. The bathroom was very antiquated and the tub/shower dirty. The bed was very lumpy and the sheets scarey. The restraunt gets a lot of business and the country cooking style food is good. But it didn't make up for the room.I would recommend to travelers coming from out of town or state to stay in one of Fredericks larger hotels.
Lilypons is gorgeous. It is over 300 acres of land with natural ponds galore that have been turned into beautiful water gardens with lily pads and water plants and flowers. You could just get lost in the beauty of this place for hours on end ! Pets on leashes are aloud , we love to bring a picnic light lunch and sit near one of the many ponds before packing up and walking around.
They also have a showroom on sight where they sell products and plants and packages to make your own water gardens. They have everything you could ever think of to do so. Lots of parking and great employees !
The Birchmere is awesome for seeing live music at. A great dinner theater with a lot of history behind it. The venue is very nice with great employees and service. Seating is first come first serve so I recommend getting there early for the best seating. Not that there is a bad seat in the house ! They have a good selection of dinner items , desserts , and appetizers. As well as a great selection of beers and mixed drinks at the bar , the wine selection is limited but limited to a small selection of really good wines ! Parking is easy and lots of spaces. I recommend buying tickets for events beforehand because they usually sell out concerts before the night of the shows.
Ashley Furniture is new to Frederick. Located off of seventh street in the Giant Eagle shopping center. It is a big showroom with a good selection of bedroom sets and diningroom furnishings as well as furniture for every other room in your home. They also sell bedding sets , linens , and pillows and home acessories. They have some very well crafted and unique furniture items. Lots of parking , easy to locate. The store is large. The employees are a bit pushy with the sales pitches but helpful if you put the kebosh on the used car dealer attack early on ! The prices ended up being a bit out of our average income league though so I do not think I will ever go there again. But if you make a good salary and like upscale type items. Then go check this store out !
Cape Cod Crafters is located in the Gettysburg outlet mall. they have a ton of unique crafty items. Pennsylvania dutch style items even. Stained glass art as well as wood painted plaques and yard posts in many brightly painted colors , animal themes , and shapes. They also sell stuff like indian ear candles , amish made jellys and jams , personalized home decoration items , autographed sports memorabilia , gourmet pet treats. They have the neatest peanut butter homemade dog cookies. I always pick up a few for my aunts poodle when I go there ! Great location , lots of parking , and helpful employees round off this fun store ! I really love it !
Ok , I hate to complain. The Battlefield is amazing. You can do a driving tour for 2 to 3 hours there is so much to see. But the museum and gift shop is very dilapidated. In need of a lot of work. The Cyclorama painting is currently under repair so that is not available to view to the general public at the time of this review. I've heard it is very worth seeing but I did not get to. Do not waste your money on the 30 minute touring film. The gift shop has a great selection of Gettysburg history dvd's and vhs's as well as many books , bookmarks , pins , war memorabilia. I got a great book of Abraham Lincoln's poetry there. Reasonable prices. Many helpful women working in there as well. The museum itself mainly is filled with weapondry. Hundreds of guns. If you are into weapons it's a must see.
I love this store , Christmas Tree Hill. They have the best ornaments as well as many other items as well. Very unique. I personally go there to find new cat themed ornaments for our holiday tree. Great prices , vast selection. I also bought this year "Hershey" candy bar garland. They have any ornament you could ever think of. Besides ornaments they sell other Christmas decorations for the house and yankee candle items and boyds bear items and other country kitsch items. Located in the Gettysburg outlet mall so their is also no sales tax ! Plenty of parking , good customer service. The stores a little hard to maneuver in because they pack it with tons of stuff !
Christian Light Bookstore is the only one of it's kind in Frederick that I could find. I was looking for a very specific type of bible for a gift for my cousin and they had exactly what I was looking for. They are a little on the pricey side , but have a really nice selection of popular Christian music cd's and unique bibles. They also carry inspirational Christian literature , books , and pretty bookmarks and religious stationary items. They are located right off alt.40 going up towards Braddock Mountain. The store is quite inside and the staff is helpful. No children running around like a strip mall shop usually would have. I highly recommend this store !
Riverside Liquors is located in front of the nice Walmart in Frederick , next to Blockbuster and the Exxon on the corner. They are a large store is a safe part of town in a highly visible location so I feel safe going there even at night ! They have a really large selection of beer , wine , and spirits. Reasonable prices , average for around here. They carry a great selection of wine and beer from local winerys and breweries. The store is very clean and the employees very nice and helpful and knowledgeable of their inventory. They've helped me find exactly what I was looking for on several occasions!
Hi Way Liquor store is an ok store for basic wine and beer selection. If you want something more upper class or sophisticated to your palate I suggest trying something in a more central location in town rather than on the outskirts. The store is sort of scarey from the outside. Limited parking. Right off alt. 40. They do have a large selection of beer as well as tobacco products. So if you're more a beer type of person rather than wine you may have better luck shopping here. Prices are average and reasonable. The customer service is good. The store is clean inside but semi-unorganized.
