Southern Kitchen
this is a fairly small breakfast and lunch restaurant. although, they are famous for breakfast (especially the fried green tomatoes). there's a board listing the daily specials (although, it always seems to be pretty much the same). On a Sunday morning people will wait an hour for a table it's that good (even though there's no place inside to wait and just one park bench outside.
Bennigan's Grill & Tavern
this is a great place for a burger. It's very noisy inside, almost like a family style sports bar (yes, they have TV's). You an sit and the bar for a beer or take one of the booths for dinner. It's a fast paced restaurant and your server will also be working a lot of other tables, but the wait staff are great, very friendly and a lot of fun. They also have fabulous ice-cream desserts.
Togo's
This is a great place for a sandwich. The servings are huge. A small sandwich would easily feed 2 people. The bread is very fresh and you get a choice of 4/5 breads. they have a daily special sandwich and also sells some hot sandwiches, soups and chilli. You can eat in (bus your own table) or take-out
Andy's Bar-B-Que
This is the best BBQ food you will ever eat. The restaurant looks like a dive from the outside, and inside the decor isn't much better, but the food more than makes up for it - it's wonderful. the menu is very limited, but what they sell tastes great. There's no frills - formica tables, paper napkins, choice of 2 salad dressings. The food is served on heavy/chipped white pottery, but if you close your eyes, you'll love to taste the food.
Britannia Arms Of Almaden
This is your typical fake UK pub...dark wood tables and chairs, and wallpapered walls. That's where the similarity ends. the food is mediocor. Although the UK is not known for great food, it doesn't mean the fake pubs can also serve average food. They do sell breakfast, but that doesn't start until 9:30 (almost lunchtime for some people)
Tomato Thyme
They sell fabulous pizza. They have about 10 toppings to chose from. you can buy by the slice or by the pizza. It's no frills place. you sit either at a bar or at one of the very few small tables. There's jars of parmasen and pepper flakes on your table. You get paper plates to eat off. But hey, who cares, the pizza is great. New Yorkers would love it too - you can fold this pizza!
Jasmine Chinese Cuisine
This is OK for a quick meal, but not the best chinese food around. the restuarant itself is very dated and everything seems very dark inside. it's a very poplular restuarant for take-out meals, and unfortunatley, to pick up your order you have to walk through the whole restaurant, not ideal for the sit-down diners. there is definately better chinese food out there' although, their prices are not that bad.
Mandarin Gourmet Cupertino
This is by far our favorite chinese restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and is very well maintained. The wait staff are wonderful. The service is fast. They have the best hot and sour soup around and the shrimp in lobster sauce is heavenly - highly recommended. We've never yet had to make a reservation, although I'm sure on a weekend evening it will be packed with customers.
Picasso's Bar & Grill
Although this is a streakhouse, you can get a great burger here (made with real meat). It is a very popular lunchtime restaurant with downtown San Jose business people and on a Friday night their bar is packed with people. The restaurant is big, and if it's not a busy night, you can feel a little lost at your table. But apart from that it is a great place to eat.
Forbes Mills Steak House
This is a fabulous restaurant. You will get the best steak you have ever tasted, cooked exactly to your liking. The down side is it is a la carte, so it gets expensive very quickly. But that aside. This is a wonderful restaurant for a romantic meal. The interior design is beautiful. They have a small waiting area with brick walls and a fireplace. In the summer there is dining outside. Many business people stop by here for a drink after work. the downside is their parking lot is tiny, however, there is public parking fairly close by
