I have been to this place several times and always found great things for a reasonable price. The problem is, 90% of the time, I can't understand a word they are saying to me? They all sound like Latka Gravas, but without the cute charm of Latka.
Regardless, the language barrier/slight attitude aside, I come here for the cool looking bed linen, curtains, and towel sets. They also sell a lot of those giant towels and bed spreads for a pretty good price. But you have to be careful because some prices will "change" without notice, if you catch my drift.
As much as I have tried, I never walked away from here with a jackpot. I'm not much of a gambler, that's for sure. But once in a while, I get a burning desire to throw away my hard earned money, and this is where I like to go! The slots are very cool, they have a large non smoking room downstairs (thank heaven!). It's a nice place to just get away for the day. I also enjoy the restaurants and bar they have at Grand Victoria. This is convenient to Metra and there's plenty of parking.
This place is just so pretty, almost too nice for a bakery. When I first walked in I thought it was going to be expensive. The place is gorgeous inside. Big, roomy, little tables and chairs, clean and lots of wonderful goodies to tempt you. (Hey, can I move in, Pierre's??) They make some mind blowing looking cakes for special occasions. But they also have an area where you can just pick up a cookie or a biscuit or two, or perhaps a slice of coffee cake
This is one of my new favorite bakeries in the city. Love sweets? Want to see the kind of eye popping goodies that will have your tongue dragging across the floor? Well, then head over to Ace Bakeries in Bridgeport. I discovered them one day while visiting a friend who lives down the street. They sell these fantastic looking cakes, cookies, maid to order birthday treats, balloons and so much more. I like the fact that you can buy one piece at a time or a whole lot of sugary delights, whatever you need. They even have a cute little area where you can sip on some coffee or indulge in a slice of their latest creation inside the shop.
So many comics to choose from here. Everything from the Spider Man and Bat Man varieties to The Archies. Some people are obsessive about this place because they are always on the prowl for a collectible and the hard to find comics. I've been here for the toys. Yes, the toys are for me. I collect fun things and I was able to buy a Simpson's item for only $5 (Selma, complete with her D.M.V. set up and pet chub chub). I also picked up an Incredible Hulk pen (doesn't write well but it's sure funny looking) and I wanted to buy the Elvis doll, but only the real Elvis could afford this one :)
They are a great company. Their rates are fair, they are always fast, efficient and personable. I have used them many times when I don't feel like taking the subway at midnight. You will see them parked outside the hotels, Rosemont Theater and Allstate Arena (where I usually pick them up). But you can call ahead to reserve them too. I find their drivers are some of the best - not scary like other cab companies! Consider using them for this area.
I have heard some people say they this place is kind of cheesey or touristy, but I still think it's an amazing place! This is the perfect idea for an upcoming birthday, anniversary or a weekend getaway. There is so much to do here and everything is first class all the way. A great hotel, restaurants, spas, pool, shopping, you name it. There's also a live theater and comedy club. I think you will love this resort.
One of my favorite pet stores. Your poochie need a new collar? Puss and boots purring for some new chow? Maybe your feathered friend in the cage needs a new swing? You will find everything to satisfy your special pals at this great store. It's large, great selection, and they sell tropical and goldfish and have an adopt a fish program too. I get my fish supplies here all the time. You can also parade through the aisles with your favorite pet as you make your purchase. (But if you have a man eating lion as a pet, well, maybe you will not want to bring him along. The staff might get ticked about that one :)
Kids will especially love it here. As for you, somewhere inside of you is an inner Houdini waiting to come out. What a fun store. Everything you need to learn how to pull rabbits out of your sleeve, 40 feet scarves from your nose and make (insert name of annoying celebrity here) disappear. (Oh, if only that last one were true!) If so, Miss Hilton, Jessica & Nick, Ms. Spears, would all go POOF!
First, the good news. The food is good. Very good. The ambience and music are lovely. The staff is both informative and helpful. Now, the not so good news. If you like some attitude with that pasta, then this is the place to be. Each time I went to Maggiano's, I found them to have the "yeah, we're great, we know it, people love us, come or don't" approach. This really turned me off. I tried to get past it, and often did. However you may feel rushed to consume your dinner because on some nights, there are about 10,000 folks waiting to pounce on your table (or it just seems like 10,000). They are not mean-spirited here, and some folks are nice, but I felt like they could care less if I came back or not. Such a shame. My tip to Maggiano's is lose the 'tude and make everyone feel important. You never know who will write about you!
