I must admit that I never knew what "Birkenstocks" were until years ago when a few of my (Dead Head) friends mentioned them. I'm not joking. I guess they are popular with them. Well, that's what they sell here, and plenty of them. They are also open on Sunday. Very convenient location. Sometimes the prices are high, but that's to be expected.
I admit it, it's the name that first won my heart. And with a name like this, how can you not love 'em?! This wonderful family owned and operated business caters to the poochies in Evanston and along the North Shore. They provide everything from dog grooming, food, supplements, pet sitting and in-home services. They are first class and will pamper that special dog in your family!
You have to see this place. If you love shopping you will have a very difficult time resisting this mall. They have designer stores, labels and (get ready) all at outlet store prices! It's right off the expressway so it's convenient, although a bit of a hike if you live in the city. Trust me, it's worth it. The have Lord and Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, and a cinema and restaurants.
Are you looking to get out of the city for an evening? Don't know what to do for your parent's anniversary? Have I got the answer for you. This gorgeous complex has first rate live theater and musicals, a wonderful restaurant with one of the best meals I have ever eaten, and the facility even has a bakery and gift shops inside. The theater is intimate with a good sound system. And the people here will make you feel like royalty. They are located between Madison and Milwaukee, WI. If you get tired, stay at the hotel right next door. I booked a 2 room suite for about $80! Highly recommended.
PROS: Wonderful, wonderful! You will love it.
I found this place by accident while picking up some beef sandwiches at Duke's (down the street). "I am thrilled that a great store like this moved into my 'hood! Just the window display alone sold me on the spot. A giant Spiderman, Star Wars dolls, Sponge Bob, and so many other cool things. I wish them well and hope we can spread the word about this special shop that has so much to offer you.
Okay, I admit that was a hokey intro, but every time I think of this travel agency, I think of The Beatles and that song! Anyway, I like the saying of this agent "take a bit out of stress" I'm all for that. They do a lot of group tour pacakges for churches, sports teams or seminars. They have a nice website and Mona Perkins (who runs this shop) is very nice and takes good care of you.
I was on this block in Oak Park when I met a friend for lunch last month. Their cool window display is filled with giant, paper sunflowers. (They are my fave flower so I was instantly drawn to this store). They have everything you can think of that is, well, paper. Think great stationery and so much more!
I was looking for a gift for a baby show one day and I decided to go no further than my local shop. I was impressed with some of their items, as well as the nice people who worked there. The prices were reasonable and they are especially good for infant and toddlers. They sell car seats and strollers too. Stop by when in the area.
For me, this is, without a doubt, the best BBQ I have ever consumed!! Run to Edison Park and partake in some amazing stuff. I had the Texas beef brisket which was lean, juicy and very soft. Their sides are great too. I tried the potato salad and coleslaw and loved 'em. The guy who runs this place is also a super cool guy. A modest looking place with first rate food. They don't sell liquor and they aren't open past 8:00 pm, but don't let that stop you!
Let's be real here. This place gives me the CREEPS! It's not very attractive or modern, that's for sure. But I do enjoy that they try to have different movies, not just mainstream. If I'm in the area, I may stop in, and I know some people like the fact they can enjoy a brew while watching the flick, so I guess that's a positive thing. The last couple of times I noticed a weird smell too. What the heck is that smell?!
