Holm Gordon L Dds
The dentist makes you feel at ease and does all the work himself. You get his decades of experience for your whole visit, no dental hygientist that may not be as saavy. Fast and thorough cleaning and x-ray, will get you back to work in no time with no pain.
Save Mart
It's a huge store yet I can never find everything I need without going up and down the aisles several times over. Then by the time I have gotten everything (usually I just give up on trying to find some things on my list) I get to the check out and can't get checked out. They rely too much on the self check out stations that have many glitches, and don't have enough checkers and baggers on hand. I don't care to spend my day and my money there.
Bass Shoe Outlet
Bass Shoe Outlets are usually top on my list of places to find sandals. Unfortunately this store doesn't seem to have as good of a selection as their other locations. It's still worth checking out but don't count on finding just what you want.
J P Tools Sales & Svc
Tops brands of tools at prices lower than you'll find at any of the chain tool stores. Power tool repair service for a very reasonable price is also available.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
It's a nice aquarium with unique exhibits, but it's not much in the way of what you'd usually expect from an aquarium. There aren't many sharks and it's just not very big. It's a unique experience but if you've gone to other good aquariums you could probably just skip this one and spend more time at the local beaches and parks.
Barbaras Family Hair Care
Barbara's has been Galveston's top salon for many years and that's not likely to change. The top stylists have many regulars so getting an appointment might take a little while. But they always try their best to accomodate walk-ins and new clients.
Automotive Professionals
We have been going here for decades and have always been well taken care of. Sometimes they get quite busy but you can be sure that the work will be top quality without an inflated price.
Starbucks
I drive out of my way to go to this Starbucks over some of the other ones in the area. The service is excellent and the drinks are well made. Given the location it is often busy but the line always moves quickly. The baristas are friendly and will quickly learn your name and standard order.
Tongs Happy Buddha
I've been going there for 20+ years. I've sinced moved out of state and tried many other Chinese restaurants, but no other ever compares. Every time I'm in Galveston I go to Happy Buddha at least twice. The egg rolls and won ton soup are delicious, and I've yet to have an entree that wasn't good.
Gianni's Pizza
This is a well known and popular local pizza place, but I'm not sure why. Regular pizzas come out as thin crust - not my favorite. You have to stand in line to give your order but pay higher prices more typical of a pizzeria that would have someone to wait on you.
