Poillucci Plumbing

Pittsburgh, PA Plumbers 06/09/06: 'Quick but a little steep in price'

We had our sump pump go bad on our newly purchased house shortly after we moved in. Poillucci Plumbing came quickly, which surprised me. The two workers were very polite and explained what they fixed and why. They did the work quickly but the price I felt was a little too high. Luckily for us, the cost was covered under the home warranty!

Herman J Heyl Florists Inc

Pittsburgh, PA Florists 03/24/06: 'Very professional'

I had a great experience here. Unfortunately I had to go pick out some funeral floral arrangements, and had never done so before. The salesperson was very nice, sympathetic and was able to give suggestions as to what was appropriate. I already had an idea in mind and they were able to work with me and still be able to stick within my budget. The flowers were delivered on time and stay fresh longer than I had expected.

Merry Maids

Pittsburgh, PA Maid & Cleaning Services 03/24/06: 'I could do the job just as well as they could'

Although the employees arrived on time and were very polite, I can't say I would recommend them to anyone. They definitely missed some spots in key critical areas like the stove and spots of the hardwood floors had been missed completely. The banged my sofa so hard against the wall when putting back that it gouged the wall. I didn't even get a 'Sorry'. I never did bother to call and complain about the service, as I felt that they wouldn't 'get it'. When I originally called to schedule the appointment, I was very specific (about what needed done) with the person on the phone and they assured me that their employees would be doing the tasks. However, when they arrived, they promptly told me they did not do the things that I was requesting. On a positive note, they did clean the carpets extremely well.

Eva Szabo Spa

Pittsburgh, PA Skin Care - Pittsburgh, PA Day Spas - Pittsburgh, PA Beauty Salons 03/24/06: 'Great experience for a first time spa-goer'

I received a gift certificate here. I had never gone to a spa before and I didn't know what to expect. They did go out of their way to make me feel relaxed and comfortable, as I am very private when it comes to my body. I received a facial and a full body massage. The massage was very relaxing, and I would definitely go there again. The one employee had a very heavy accent and was hard to understand, but overall the place was very nice and I would recommend them to anyone.

My Husbands Cheese Cake

Wexford, PA Bakers & Bakeries 03/24/06: 'If you love cheesecake, go here fast!'

While it really bothers me to plunk down $30 for a food that's going to add an inch or two to my hips, I'll do it for this place. Try their Irish Cream, lemon blackberry and fuzzy navel. They also have 'babycakes' which are miniature versions of the cheesecakes which is good if you don't want to spend a chunk of money on the full size ones to see if you like it. The cheesecakes are baked fresh, so there are no preservatives, which is a bonus!

North Park Clubhouse

Mc Kees Rocks, PA Restaurants 03/24/06: 'Good family restaurant'

This is the sister restaurant to the NPCL in Gibsonia. There are plenty of games for the kids to play, TVs to watch sports. they do have a banquet room, which we have never had the opportunity to use. This site is a little smaller than the one in Gibsonia, but just as crowded. We have had some problems with getting our food promptly, but the waitresses have been very friendly. The prices are Ok, food isn't anything to write home about, but my kids love to go there for the games. Good family restaurant.

Tender Touch Veterinary Hosp

Wexford, PA Animal Hospitals - Wexford, PA Veterinarians 03/24/06: 'Can I give this place no stars?'

Very unprofessional, I would only recommend them if you need to have blood drawn. I don't have enough space to complain about everything, just suffice to say that they push push push vaccines, even knowing that when animals are sick, they should NOT receive vaccines. They never give the package inserts when administering medicine, nor do they explain the side effects. Don't expect anything but major attitude if you question a test or drug they'd like to give your pet - how dare you question them, they're the vet, after all! I ran as fast as I could from this place.

Pizza House

Ambridge, PA Pizza Restaurants - Ambridge, PA Fast Food/Take Out 03/24/06: 'AKA Police Station Pizza'

Inexpensive pizza, tastes great and they don't skimp on the toppings. This place doesn't deliver, but they sure still pack the people in! You can order by the slice, by the tray, and you can even pick up a kit to assemble and cook your own at home. The one guy there is completely amazing - there can be 20 people in the store, and he can remember how many/what toppings each person is getting, and he never gets people out of order with respect to who should get their pizza first. We don't live near here anymore, but I often take the 30 minute trip over there just to get some of this pizza.

Andora

Sewickley, PA American Restaurants 03/24/06: 'Classy with nice ambiance'

This is a little restaurant that's off the beaten path. It has a nice atmosphere and the waitstaff are very friendly. The menu is nice in that they do rotate some items on the menu, so it's a nice change of pace if you visit quite frequently. The desserts are delicious. Prices are reasonable, but there are some selections that are quite expensive given the quality of the food. There is also a nice deck/patio for when the weather is nicer.

Panera Bread

Washington, PA Delis 03/24/06: 'Delicious bread and cookies!'

I love Panera and go there whenever I can. Things you should try: chocolate croissants, asiago focaccia, tomato and basil bread, cinnamon bagel with hazelnut cream cheese.
The 'pick two' specials are great and priced just right. They also have a private room for parties or meetings, which doesn't cost you, you just need to reserve it in advance. Some of the salespeople are not as friendly or knowledgeable as I think they should be, but I overlook that for the great fresh food.
