24 Hour Fitness
I joined at this gym a couple of years ago...and even though I now frequent other 24-hour gyms more often, I do enjoy the new facility, good equipment. It can get pretty crowded during peak times and sometimes I don't like to work out in such an open environment, but I do get a good workout when I go here.
PROS: Good selection of equipment
CONS: peak times can be VERY crowded!
Raymond Love Agency
I have had my car and homeowner's insurance with Russ for over 5 years. Even though my office is a ways away, he drove down to see me. He offers competitive rates, great customer service, and it is nice to be able to speak to a real representative instead of just a computer or a toll free line.
PROS: Good customer Service!
CONS: none!
Banfield Pet Hospital
My sister's dog was shot in the head..what could have been a family tragedy thankfully turned into a good day. The folks at Banfield nursed Arbie back to health. They were very caring and made her recovery better, too. They seemed to really care about their jobs and you could tell they really loved animals, too.
PROS: Top notch pet care!
CONS: A little on the expensive side, but well worth it!
Petite Provence
I love La Provance...authentic continental desserts, and meals. I go here for leisurely brunch (make sure you go early to beat the rush!), but I can't resist the delicious pastries (a great Napolean). They are famous for their food and I love thier asparagus omellet!
PROS: Incredible dessert and brreakfast!
CONS: Long lines
Beaverton Bakery Express
For a long time my sister and I met here every Thursday morning. We got refillable coffee and sampled one of their outstanding desserts (even bagels when we were being "good".). I love browsing their extensive collection of homemade and decorated cookies. They have the best almond croissants (make sure they warm them for you)
PROS: Best sweets
CONS: could be bad for your waistline
The Dessert Tray
My husband and I were just driving past, and couldn't resist the tempation to go to dessert here. What we found was a "Hidden Treasure". A wonderful dessert place tucked away in Beaverton. This place has the best Orangesicle cake (orange and cream with white cake). They also do weddings and special event cakes...inventive and beautiful!
PROS: great cakes and desserts!
CONS: A bit pricey!
City Of Beaverton Library
If your idea of a city library is outdated, stuff kind of place, then this library will blow you away! It is an open, airy, and inviting place. Extensive kids section, and inviting reading areas make this a place to go and browse...better than a bookstore because everything is available to borrow for free!
PROS: Large, airy
CONS: long lines to check out..use the self-check out!
tanasbourne public library
Even though this teeny library is tucked away in a shopping center, please don't let its small size fool you! It has a great collection of VHS and DVDs, and you can "order" any book in the Washington Co. Library system for pick up here. I have always enjoyed coming here and they have a lot of computers to use free, too.
PROS: small size
CONS: bad parking
Belmont Computers
I took my laptop in here twice a couple of years ago. I had to take it in twice because the first time the problem (boot up error) was not fixed even though they said it was. I do admit it was a messed up laptop, but these guys are the professionals, right? I finally gave up and my friend wiped my drive clean and then reinstalled everything..fixing the problem. It was $50 not well spent!
PROS: none
CONS: Not a job well done!
First Baptist Church Beaverton
Some of the things I like about First Baptist: 1) Multi-generational church with two types of services, traditional and contemporary, 2) Norm Langston is one of the most genuine pastors around, 3) FBC has a heart for the community. They currently have a Hispanic, Korean, and Emmaus Road Church meet on thier premises. This is the church where I was married, and which hosts our church. First Baptist has a heart for the Lord and it shows in their care for the community.
PROS: Caring chuch
CONS: none!
