Solid Rock
I've visited a couple of times to Solid Rock Fellowship. They meet now in the cafeteria at Contestoga Middle school near the Beaverton Southridge High school. Contemporary, causal, rock and roll worship music, and a laid back atmosphere where you can come as you are...very refreshing in a town that is usually more formal for church on Sundays. I've always met a friendly face here, and the teaching is fun and easily digestible and applicable!
PROS: Family friendly...great worship!
CONS: Lighter messages may leave some wanting more depth
Southwest Bible Church
I went to SW Bible Church for almost 3 years. They are great because it is a larger church and it was a great place to meet new people. The pastor, Scott Gilchrist is one of the best expository (teaching) pastors out there, I never came away feeling that I didn't learn something!
PROS: Great teaching!
CONS:
Julie's Travel Desk
If you are looking for good service, friendly staff, and a good deal, then Julie's is the place to go. They may not always get the same (cheap) deals as the internet but if you are looking for the best service, then Julie can help you. I've purchased items from their travel shop that is located inside their agency.
PROS: Customer service!
CONS: May not be the cheapest!
Emmaus Road Community Church
I've been a member of Emmaus Road Community Church for about 5 years now. I grew up in big churches, but have appreciated the authentic fellowship, friendship and teaching at tihs small house church. It has allowed me to grow along side others in my faith with true friendships. If you desire a small house church with servant leadership, then this is the place for you!
PROS: small house church, authentic faith
CONS: small...not a lot of programs
A Wild Hair
I admit it...I'm a penny pincher. For many years I simply went to whatever chain hair place ran the coupon in the ads, and I'd never been happy before about my hair. Then I met my friend Kim. For the first time I loved my hair! Kim does an incredible job of fixing it just great! It is the best money ever spent! She does a great job with highlights, too! They take walk ins, but if you want Kim, then just call for an appointment!
PROS: Kim is the best stylist ever!
CONS: None!
Joe's Barber Shop
Joe, a third generation Barber is the proud owner of his own barber shop on his first floor. He is young, yet skilled. He set up a rec room/waiting area for guys as he just takes the walk in appointments. My husband loves it! It is truly a good guys hang out and they enjoy getting their hair cut there! Definately worth it!
PROS: Great friendly barber!
CONS: no appointmetns accepted
Game Crazy
My husband LOVES the next X-box games...but we didn't want to break the bank with the purchases...so we we decided to buy the used games here and we are all happy! They have an exchange policy if the game doesn't work, but so far, we have had success! We are happy with the SIMS and he's gotten other combat games, too.
PROS: Good prices. Used and new products
CONS: can't return anything.
Urban Fondue
Imagine a local restaurant with red walls, great waiters, intriguing menu idea, and the perfect place for a date or a group event! It's a Portland origional...Urban Fondue. This place has an amazing menu of appetizers, main dishes (try the meat sampler) with your choice of broth to cook it in and 6 tasty dipping sauces. The desserts are fun..try dipping cheesecake into white chocolate! The fondue theme is always fun. Sundays they have a special price...call for details! Just make sure you get reservations!
PROS: Great atmosphere and food!
CONS: Pricey, bad parking and YOU NEED Reservations
Le Bistro Montage
Yes, Montage is quirky, loud (sitting at long communual tables), spicy cajun menu items (we love getting gator!!) but it is a Portland origional and so refreshing from bland chains. The waiters are fun and they have good service. A must to try at least once cuz they have good mac and cheese, too!
PROS: Funky and fun! Great for groups!
CONS: loud, not good if you want a small intimate dinner
Black Bear Diner
My husband and I love this place...but we've learned to share entrees since they are soo big. We are from the East and the South, and we miss Cracker Barrel country food. However, we have discovered the country breakfasts here, big services of omlettes, biscuits and gravy and other wonderful items!
PROS: Large amounts of country goodness!
CONS: Long lines, they don't take reservations.
