Charles A Upson Elementary
I had heard terrible things about the school districts in Lockport from friends. But after doing some of my own research Charles Upson is actually one of the next schools in the county. I visited there recently to check it out for myself as we were looking at schools for my preschooler. I was very impressed. The school was clean, decorated with projects and drawings and the staff seemed very on top of things. Even the school nurse was friendly and helpful. We are still undecided about where our son will go for kindergarten (Charles Upson ended up not being our school) but before you believe the negative hype check it out yourself. they seem to have a lot to offer.
Lockport Tire & Svc
My Suv needed new tires, oil changes, inspection the works. We called around for prices on tires and Lockport Tire was by far the best (like $50 cheaper per tire). The truck was dropped off in the morning and eight hours later was completed. They were thorough and very honest. We had such a positive experience that a week later we brought in my husband's suv for a bunch of things. The truck was completed quickly (even though they had to order a bunch of parts) and they threw in a complimentary wash. The manager, I think his name is Tim was extremely helpful. I cannot say enough how honest they were.
PROS: Honest
CONS:
The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care
My Grandfather was admitted to this Hospice hospital. We were all incredibly impressed with the place itself. They had anything you could want as a visitor so you did not hav eto leave. They had a small cafeteria, vending machines, a chapel, sitting areas, play area for children etc. We could focus on spending time with our loved one and everything we could possibly need was right therre on the campus. His room was beautiful, you felt like you were in a hotel lodge, which made him more comfortable. The staff was very helpful, they did whatever they could to help us in this process. They brought my Grandfather Ice Cream at an off hour, they worked hard to accomodate the sick and dying.
Urban Brothers Funeral Home
Wow. This is a fantastic business. Of all the reviews I have written I think Urban Brothers has far surpassed any business in terms of service to its customers. We had the unfortunate luck of needing their service. They made the process of funeral planning less stressful by almost managing the event. The Funeral Director was there with his office door open for all the wake services, he lent his sincere sympathy to my family and stayed with my family for the entire funeral. I have never seen any business get so involved in ensuring its customers happiness. I truely hope we do not have to use them any time soon but if the event should arise, with out a doubt we will trust Urban Bros. for their help and support.
Lakeside Hospital
I has to visit the emergency room at Lakeside a few years back. It was an incredibly small emergency room. I felt like I was being treated in someone's living room. The care was good but despite the fact I was the only one there I still had longs waits for tests and attention from the doctors. On the positive side it was a very comfortable environment because it was so small and personal. But if I was bleeding to death or had serious trauma I would much prefer to go to one of the larger hospitals in the area.
Park Ridge Apothecary
I had to go to Park Ridge while undergoing treatments a few years back. The hospital was always very, very clean and the staff (at all levels) was very helpful and friendly. They are a small hospital and you received more personalized attention. Many of the doctors seemed to spend more time with the patients. I do have to say that parking there is horrendous. There never seemed to be a spot closer than a mile away. They are conveniently located off of 390 and it was nice that there were some fast food restaurants close by (especially for family that may visit while there). I would choose this hospital again.
Wagner's Farm Market
Wagners is located between Lockport and Niagara Falls. It is a very nice family owned farmers market. We have gone there a few times for pumpkins and mums in the fall. they always have a good selection and the prices are comparable to other markets in the area. Their fruit (apples) are always great quality and super delicious. However if you have time to pick I would really reccomend making a day out of it and visiting a neighboring farm where you can pick your own (many times at a lower price). Overall a great place.
Realtyusa-Lewiston Office
We purchased our home from RealtyUSA. Our buyers agent was from another agency RealtyUSA was the seller. Their agent was so well educated on the home we were pruchasing and the area it helped us out tremendously. She was always positive, upbeat, never condescending and accessible. In the future if we were to buy or sell a home again we would use RealtyUSA, they seem to have the strongest presence in the area and they know their business (selling/buying homes). I have had a family member who worked with an agent from RealtyUSA who was pushy and obnoxious but I feel the majority of the agents there are trustworthy.
Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital
The experiences I have had with Millard Fillmore have been as a concerned family member, never a patient. I have had only positive experiences with them. They have a very knowledgeable staff who work hard to earn your trust. I felt the doctors serving this hospital always tried to explain things in a way the family would understand. When my Aunt passed away, they allowed us to grieve and spend the time we needed with her before she died. We were always kept in the loop on her progress and she was carred for by the nurses as if she was their family member. The only downside of this hospital is in their maternity ward, you have to fight for a private room and then pay extra (whereas other hospitals you always get a private room).
PROS: Compassionate
CONS: Non Private rooms in Maternity
