Uncle Joe's Pizza

Las Vegas, NV Pizza Restaurants 07/27/05: 'Yummy Chicken and OK Pizza'

Order carryout or delivery only -- you probably wouldn't want to try to enjoy your meal in the restaurant itself as it's small, crowded and the noise and smells are overpowering. The pizza is ok, but the wings and fingers are excellent. Cheese steaks are a bit on the dry side, but not bad. Delivery is fast and the food is always hot when it arrives.

Fremont Mini Mart

Unless it is an absolute emergency and you can't find beer, cigarettes, or toilet paper anywhere else in this city at the time you're shopping, avoid this location at all costs. While I'm sure the owners are nice enough, the most unsavory characters frequent and hang out around this store. On the other hand, with the amount of police activity going on in this block on a nightly basis, your safety should be pretty well guaranteed. Unless there's a Metro Unit sitting at the curb, bypass this establishment.

Tony Roma's Famouse For Ribs

Las Vegas, NV Barbeque Restaurants 07/27/05: 'Nothing Special'

Maybe this particular Tony Roma's isn't up to par with the rest of the chain, but there are much better places to eat on Fremont St. The menu looks great, but the food was nothing to write home about. The service is lax at times, and the noise level is annoying.

Mamacita's Mexican Cuban Restaurant

If you're looking for luxury and fine dining, look elsewhere. If you're looking for great food and local color, then this is the place to go. They have a very wide variety of Mexican, Cuban, and Puerto Rican dishes -- all reasonably priced and with ample portions.

The service is fast and friendly, and the establishment is clean. Unusual for a restaurant of this variety are the wide range of delectable desserts not commonly found in a Latin neighborhood restaurant.

This is a great place to start a night at the Fremont Street Experience as it's just a few steps down the block from it.
