It's New To Me
We just bought a big home and were looking for some less expensive ways to furnish it nicely. We came to this store looking for reasonable prices and were disappointed. Although the prices were cheaper than brand new furniture, we felt it was still over priced for being used.
PROS: good variety
CONS: expensive
Thors Hammer
When this store opened up near our home, we were so excited. It is a HUGE store with everything under one roof so no more running around. They have comics, D&D figures, fantasy games and so much more.
PROS: great variety, big store
CONS: none
Dragon's Lair Comics & Fantasy
My husband was so glad when he found this store. He now could find his comics and D&D figures without having to purchase them online and having to pay shipping. The salespeople are very helpful, too.
PROS: local business, good variety
CONS: kind of small
Q Alterations & Cleaners
My husband needed some jeans to be hemmed in a hurry. Q Alterations did the alterations very quickly. The pants turned out great. Best of all, the price was very inexpensive. We plan on using them for all future alterations.
PROS: speedy and good service
CONS: none
Inflatable Wonderland
For my son's first birthday party, we rented an inflatable jumpy castle for all the kids to play in. This business was very professional. They set it up and took it down for us and the price was very reasonable. I will definitely use them again for future birthday parties.
PROS: affordable, professional, good variety of bouncy houses
CONS: none
Kiddie Acres Amusement Park
At first glance, Kiddie Acres looks kind of run down and creepy so we never went there. One day a friend told me about how her kids had a blast there. I decided to take my son there. He had such a great time that we are thinking of having his next birthday party there! They have a mini-golf course, ferris wheel, boats spin in the water, cars that go around, a carousel, pony rides and much more! My son's favorite ride was the train. It was very affordable.
PROS: affordable and fun for small kids
CONS: The rides are safe, but can stand a new coat of paint.
Bookpeople Book Store
This bookstore is a great Austin place to go. They have such a variety and it isn't so "cookie cutter" like the main book store chains. The children's section is wonderful. There seems to always be some kind of program, concert, or event happening.
Tapestry Dance Company
I took tap dance lessons for the first time at this studio. The class was very good and I learned a lot. They have great instructors. The studio is a little cramped, but otherwise very nice.
Capitol City Comedy Club
We went here for New Year's Eve and really enjoyed ourselves. The comedians were hilarious and we laughed a lot. There were a lot of people there, but we didn't feel cramped at all. There really isn't a bad seat in the house.
Barton Springs Pool
This is the place to go to beat the Texas heat. It is a natural spring fed pool and the temperature is about 68 degrees year round. They have lovely large trees to sit under when you are done swimming.
