Finesse Day Spa

I took advantage of Spa Week, and got the European facial. I loved it so much that I went back, even without Spa Week prices! Margo and Lydia both do a fantastic job, and are as quiet or as talkative as you want them to be. They are also full of helpful suggestions and advice on skincare, which I liked. They are also very good about follow-ups.

The atmosphere is very relaxed, friendly and peaceful, although perhaps a bit too peaceful for me (I'm one of the talkative ones). I would completely recommend this spa.

Scott J Hair Design

Misty Miller at this Scott J is a hair artist, as far as I'm concerned. She took my lack-luster, limp hair and completely transformed it. I got compliments every day for about a week!

The salon itself is a decent experience. I say "decent" because I had to ask for a glass of water three times before I actually got one! It's an Aveda salon, so they use Aveda products, which really does make for a lovely experience. The people there are quite friendly and chatty. Beware, though - they don't take Discover and American Express.

PROS: Misty's talent, the wine, the yummy products
CONS: Certain members of staff can be a wee bit inattentive at times

May Salon

This small but unbelievaby light and airy business on the 2nd floor of the apt building next to my own is my favorite nail salon. Although language can be a tiny bit of a barrier, the technicians are experts and unlike a lot of places, do not rush through your service and actually listen to your preferences. The prices are very good (M-W, they offer a manicure & pedicure for $18.99), the staff are chatty and you leave with an overall feeling of relaxation and well-being.

Docs Physicians

I foolishly let a cold go on too wrong, by when I had developed an infection. My regular doctor did not have hours available for several days, and I was quite desperate. I called my insurance's nurse line, and she personally recommended DOCS. Although the wait was a tad long - just under 2 hours - the doctor and staff took excellent care of me, and made sure they spent enough time with me, which is very important to me.

PROS: Walk-ins admitted
CONS: None really
