Mardini's Deli
Mardinis is an excellent place to stop by on your way to the highway, or if you live in the neighborbood like some of my friends it is a great place to get a bite to eat or buy some snacks. They sell candy and a few random food items. They also have falafel and they make other foods fresh as well. They have tables outside that you can relax in or as I said it is a great place to stop by on the go just to grab something.
Tech Museum Store
This is a fun place for some family relaxation. People of all ages should be able to find something to do here, although the focus is mainly kids. Many of the exhibits are hands on, and we all know how much kids enjoy those. I think one of the most liked is the rollercoaster simulator. Parking is hard sometimes but it shouldnt ever be THAT bad, just pay a small fee. Have fun playing kids!
San Jose Museum of Art
Mostly how people discover this museum is because it is right next to the Tech museum, and honestly, its FREE (donations VERY welcome.) San Jose really isn't know for its art museums, so people often dont think that this is going to be diffeent. But it is. I definitly am not a museum person, but this place has someone. Definitly bring a buddy, you will want to share your thoughts on all the exhibits so badly. You two will definitly have something to talk about.
Dartmouth Middle School
Dartmouth isnt the best school in my opinion. The programs are kind of poor, so is the campus, the classes are big. The test scores arent too bad, but they arent great either, not very high. The school is pretty populated and the budget cut has hit. It is about 65% white. Basically, it is an ok school, neither great nor terribly bad.
Sunnyvale Middle School
Sunnyvale Middle School (SMS) is a great school to have your kid go to. You can be sure of your child getting a good education and being prepared well for high school. Graduating students go on to either Fremont High School os Homestead High School (the more prefered) depending on where they live. The school has great activities; they even have a kiln for pottery which really strikes me since those are expensive and usually only available to high schools. Very good school. But a con for a parent is that when you drop your kid off at school in the morning and need to go to work, there are no highways nearby.
Cupertino Junior High School
Cupertino Middle school is a really good school. It does a great job of preparing its students for high school. Lots of activities, lots of programs. Graduates of Cupertino Middle School go on to Homestead High school, the most desired school in the area. CUP has good test scores and you can see it in their students. Good school:)
Mountain View High School
Mountain view high school (MVHS) is part of the Mountain view Los Altos School District. This school is one of the best around and it is prefered to Los Altos (people would rather go here then there.) IN the past couple of years the school is even showing test scores that are around the same as Gunn and Palo Alto High schools (Two EXTREMELY good schools, two of the top on the country even.) They have everything you need here. Its a great school.
Los Altos High School
Los Altos is kind of a controversial school. Some think it is just fine, but then opthers hear all the rumors about large amounts of gangs at the school. Thats partly what the school is known for, gangs. People in the area tend to want to go to Mountain View High school instead of Los Altos, it just seems like a better choice. A Good education IS possible, you have to be in all the top classes though. As all the schools in the area are, it is really crowded.
Fremont High School
The Fremont Firebirds, the school has been around for a while (back when Sunnyvale actually has cherry trees growing all around.) Fremont is part of the Fremont high school District whic is a good one. For some reason people in the Fremont area all want to go to Homestead which has a better reputation. Fremont has been rumored to have lots of drugs and gangs, although its not really certain. Academics are still pretty good, but only if you are in all the top classes.
Fremont Union High School District
This is one of the best schools of the Fremont Unuon District. The district itself is a very good one (it also includes Homestead, Monte Vista and Fremont.) Whenever you go to a district event the Lynbrook kids (and Monte Vista too) seem to be better than the ones from the other schools. IN art shows their peices seem to have more talent. Academics here are great, the test scores are high. Good school people.
