Although Kay has alot of good things going for her bakery; selection, taste, decent prices, she could stand to do some renovations to her "Wedding Room." I couldn't believe how 80's everything still looked, from the worn out pictures in her catalog, to the dusty and dingy displays. The associate didn't have a price list to show me, either. All she had was a pad of paper, which she kept scribbling on. I asked to sample different flavors, and all they could bring me was a cupcake holder full of white frosting. At one point, the associate just walked out, got in her truck and drove off. Then when she came back, she said, "Oh, are y'all still here?" Ofcourse we were. She'd told us to think of questions, and she'd be back to talk to us. This is yet another local business that has achieved notoriety for it's great product, but has forgotten customer service skills in the process.
PROS: awesome cakes and pastries
CONS: less than friendly service, bad presentation
Although I have sampled this caterers food at several functions, and find them to be good, I have marked them off my list of possible caterers for my upcoming event. I found the person on the phone to be rude, with an attitude as if I was wasting his time. When I finally got my faxed estimate, it was chock full of errors, including my name. They are also extremely expensive. I just feel like if I am going to spend that kind of money, the least they could do is get my name right, and make me feel like my time is worth something.
PROS: Excellent food
CONS: attitude, price
I don't mind spending a little extra for items at David's Bridal, because I know it is quality merchandise, I know they will have multiples available for all my bridesmaids (if they don't, they will order from another location), and they have a great selection, which means less time spent trying to find what I want. The staff is always very helpful. When I bought my wedding dress, 3 different consultants helped me. Although prices are usually higher, they do run promotions all year long.
PROS: Whatever you need, fast, nice
CONS: ordering from another store, although possible, can come with difficulties
Shannon Marroquin is the owner/ house sylist at this establishment. She is so bubbly and always has something to talk about to pass the time while she is fixing your hair. I have always been pleased with making appointments, and getting my hair done at Fixations. She can work around your schedule to get you in at the right time. Also, there are always great specials for new customers, like free brow wax with any cut.
PROS: Easy to get appt., good location, friendly
CONS: parking is sometimes difficult, as it is located in the Gilmore Apt Bldg
I would like to have an online store added to this website, so that I can tell everyone that they are a fraud. It is freemagazineshop.com. They claim to sell magazine subscriptions. You pay by paypal, then the magazine never comes. Paypal's policy is 45 days to file a claim, so ofcourse you are still waiting for your subscription and do not file within the time-frame. They do not respond to emailed customer service complaints, which, their email addresses are all aol adresses. The physical address that they supply doesn't exist. I called a company that they are supposed to be "in the care of," but these people say they are not affiliated, and keep getting calls of the same nature. I just want to get the word out, because the website is still up and running, and probably scamming as we speak.
I ordered a Bridal magazine subscription from these people in February, and now it is August. My wedding will be taking place before I even get my first issue!
Bookstar is my favorite Memphis bookstore. I like the layout of it, the coffee shop attached, and the helpfulness of the sales associates. I can always find what I need. It is big, but not too big.
Although this store sells mostly generic brands (their own house brands), the prices are great, they have all the basics, it is clean, it is fast. You have to bag your own stuff, but this actually speeds up the lines so it is okay with me.
PROS: clean, quick, excellent prices
CONS: I wish it was a bigger store, longer hours
I give Cloverleaf Animal Clinic 4 stars, because they are always so helpful when I need to take my dog in. Even though I know they get alot of business, due to being the only animal clinic in their neighborhood, they still give me and my dog undivided attention. When I recently went, I was inquiring on pet insurance and the vet tech really went out of her way to look up the info, even though I am sure that was beyond her duties. It is very clean, and not cramped like some clinics can get.
PROS: Clean, efficient, has a kennel, freindly staff, thorough
