This is really a very nice store. They have the freshest produce I've found in the area, the staff is very cool, and the store is always immaculate. The prices are definitely higher than chain grocery stores, but the quality is better, too. They have a killer salad bar that is huge, so you can get lunch to go, too!
This is a no-frills gas station- there's no convenience store here, but they do have a car wash and a couple of vending machines. What I like about it is that I have never had to wait in line to pay for my gas, so I'm in and out quickly. The facility and parking lot are always clean, too.
This is your basic convenience store. You can get fuel and items like junk food, beverages, lottery tickets, and basic household goods. I don't think there's anything particularly special about this place, but the people who work there are friendly, and it's a convenient location.
I recently had dinner here with friends, and overall it was very good. The service was very good, and we didn't have to wait long for a table (on a Saturday, no less). The pizza we ordered was great, and so were the salads. I would like to see a wine list that has more pizza-friendly choices, but they do have a good selection for a small place. Prices are ok.
The doctors and staff at Family Eye are very personable and professional. They have a good selection of frames, and prices are average. The problem I have had here is that it seems to take a long time to get your glasses in.
Boche Plumbing does everything from repairing leaks to installing all your plumbing in a new home. Their prices are very competitive, they do fantastic work, and seem to have really nice guys working for them. I will definitely call them again if I need plubing work done.
This is a nice little gallery downtown. They have a nice selection of paintings in different mediums, as well as sculpture. They will help you choose one great piece, or can help you decorate a whole house if you want. Prices are competitive, and less than I've found in bigger cities.
I have had only one experience with this jeweler, and it was when I recently took in a ring for repair. I was happy with the work they did, and the fee was reasonable. My only complaint is that when I went to pick it up (ten minutes before closing time), they said it was locked in the safe and they would not be able to get to it until the next day. I had called ahead and told them I was on my way, so I was a little upset, but they did deliver the ring to me the next day so I didn't have to go back again.
This is a neat place to go to learn about the buttons that were made in Muscatine. There are pieces of equipment from the old button factory, and lots information about how they worked, and how the buttons were made of shells from the Mississippi River (about a block away from the museum). It doesn't take long to go through this place, but it's worth checking out once.
Olympic Spa is a really nice spa over in Koreatown that offers all of your basic spa services, and the best thing about it is that you won't go broke. You can hang out here the whole day for about $100, and get a massage and a scrub, or you can soak in the pools or steam in the saunas. It's definitely the best value I've found in SoCal for a day spa. The service here is fantastic, too.
