I opened my first bank account here when I was about 13 years old (a long time ago!) and my family has done business with them for years. Their rates are competitive, but what's best about it is that these are friendly, professional people whom you can trust with your finances. Some of the staff has worked here as long as I can remember, and it just has a real hometown feel to it.
Garrison's has been around as long as I can remember, and their flowers have always been very nice. Karen and her staff can put together anything from a simple bouquet for the dinner table to a grand arrangement for your wedding. The flowers are always fresh, they deliver, and the prices are competitive. When I've lived out of state, they have even mailed me a bill so I could just send a check back to them. Great service!
I have been doing business with Griggs since I started playing an instrument (over twenty years ago). I have purchased and rented saxophones, guitars, amps, and accessories from them, and have always had a very good experience. They have the best selection in Davenport, the location is easy to get to (right on Brady St.) and their staff has always been able to answer my questions.
West has been around for years (now with multiple locations), and there's a reason. They have a very good selection of instruments and accessories, from entry-level to professional-quality, and a top-notch staff to point you in the right direction. Prices are average, but they sometimes have good sales.
This is the place I go for books when I'm in town. It's a cool little shop, with both national best-sellers and lesser-known independents. The staff knows their stuff, and the prices are competitive with the big guys.
I have shopped at this place for over fifteen years. It's a little underground place that has army surplus stuff plus cool punk clothes, accessories, and vintage stuff. The staff is very cool and the prices are good.
Valet's is one of those places that has been around for years in the same spot, with the same great service, and the same guys drinking coffee in the service department. This is one place where you can still trust what the mechanic tells you, and the prices are reasonable.
This company is affiliated with Allied (a major van line), and I recently called them to get an estimate for moving the contents of a 2-bedroom house (2000 miles). They did come do an estimate, which was almost DOUBLE what all the other (6) companies quoted me. What's worse, when I checked their record with the Better Business Bureau, they scored an F!! I am so glad I didn't hire them. The estimator, by the way, had a bit of an attitude, which didn't help.
I went here after seeing a fullpage ad in the LA Times, and they do have a good selection of televisions, but I was in the store for 15 minutes and never could get help from a sales consultant. They weren't that busy, either.
This store has a wide range of audio and video equipment; everything from plasma tvs to speaker cables. I went in here because they were having a scratch and dent sale, and they really do have some deals, if you don't mind buying a floor model, or maybe something that's missing a manual, or other minor things.
