Top Hat Car Wash
I only gave this place a satisfactory rating because I took my car here once (for the last time) and within a day or two I noticed a white haze on my car as well as on my headlights. When I returned, they mostly got the haze off my paint job (I'm pretty sure it was the wax), but they didn't get it off my lights. Now, a few years later, my headlights are yellow. I've never had a problem with my headlights when I used to wash and wax my car myself, or when I went to the nearst gas station and got a wash there.
The only thing I like about this place is that if you're going to go and it rains, they offer a 48 hour rain check.
Foto Camera Repair
I took one of my cameras here to get cleaned and now it takes great photos. They even replaced the little plastic piece on the shutter advance.
They're honest and seem more than happy to answer your photographic questions. It's a small shop but while you're in there you don't feel uncomfortable while you browse; they let you browse and are there if you need assistance.
Borka Beads
I think this woman works from home--at least she doesn't have a store front--I met her at a street festival a few months ago. She has some really nice stuff! All hand made necklaces, earrings and bracelets. I remember she used a lot of Swarovski crystals, but can't remember if she uses other materials.
It was defintely nice to look at, but really, really expensive.
Safari Collections
I bought a couple smaller things from them a couple years ago; a small pair of salad tossers and a hair stick. The salad tossers are carved with an elephant and giraffe on top--real cute. They're still usable. The hair stick on the other hand broke after the second or third time. (But it was only a dollar--it was made to thinly though.)
They have a lot of cool and unique pieces, but because it's all hand crafted, it's a little on the pricey side. If you can afford it and are into hand crafted things, especially from Africa, you'll love this place.
Abbie's Optical
I went to Dr. Yodowitz a few years ago when one of my molars chipped. I actually needed a crown because I had a root canal done on that tooth but couldn't afford one so I asked if he could just put a filling in it. After the standard "mini-lecture" as to why I needed to get a crown, he gave me a new filling--the white stuff.
He's a really friendly dentist, as is his staff. He's also affordable. I don't have dental insurance so I usually call around; if I went to Dr. Yodowitz it was because he was the cheapest and he was able to see me quickly.
Am-For Collision Specialists
I went to Am-For after my car was stolen so I could get the driver's side panel re-painted. It looked perfect! What I also liked about this place was that he was trying to keep his price down so I could pocket some of the difference from my insurance money. Whether he REALLY did that, could be up for debate, but I did have a little left over that I used towards the rental--he could have taken the entire check.
The Orchid Peddler
This guy sells beautiful orchids--I LOVED mine when I brought it home. The problem I have with this guy however is that he told me I could call or email him with any questions regarding the care of the orchid; when I did, he didn't respond back. My orchid now is just a stick--it only bloomed one more flower after the original blooms died and that was over two months ago.
Mya Handmade Cigars Factory
I've never actually been to the "factory;" I met the owner and a couple of the employees at a weekly street festival in the area a couple months back. What caught my attention was that one of the guys was rolling the cigars as people walked by. That was really cool to watch.
They sell everything you need or want and are also available for private parties.
Maximeyez
I recommended my mom to this place, and she came home with beautiful glasses and a pretty good looking pair of non-prescription sunglasses as well. I personally wouldn't have chosen the sunglasses, but they look good on her.
The owner put it this way: they are the T.J. Maxx for designer eyewear.
Jupiter Dodge
If your Dodge is still under warranty, this is the place to get the job done. The other dealership in the area is a lot closer, but Jupiter Dodge is worth the trip. They usually can service your car within a week of you calling, and rarely have I known them to have my car longer than a day. In those instances I had to leave my car, they gave me a "rental" (it was free).
Not thrilled with the sales people, but the service guys are real nice.
