Austin’s
Austin's Park and Pizza is a great place to go with kids who need to burn off some energy, but be ready to burn some cash. The place is crazy on the weekends, and right after school. I do like that they have a little kids area, with small rides for the kids who can't ride the bigger rides yet. The games are expensive, and the food is not worth the price. The wristband policy is very bad too.
Chaparral Ice Ctr
The Chaparral Ice Center in Pflugerville is a great place to take kids who have never been ice skating before. They have limited hours for the public, but the time you have there is fun fun fun. The price is great, and they also have discounts in the entertainment book. This is a great place to have a birthday party, the kids are all doing something fun, yet still healthy, and the mom's can keep an eye on them.
Cowgirls & Lace
Cowgirls and Lace is located next to Le Ragge Rugs. They have been in Dripping Springs for a long time now, and the staff has been there that long too. They are a family run company who does custom orders and decorative items. The fabric selection is endless, and the trim selection is great too. I like that they have bedding with matching fabric available right next door. Great to pull a room together with all of the drapes, bedding, and decor accessories.
Highland Lanes
The league nights at Highland Lanes is very nice. I like the way they have them set up, with no guess work by the bowlers needed. They have a pro shop right in the alley, and the guy running it is very helpful at drilling balls and customizing your bowling equipment. The price for regular bowling is very affordable as well. They have a great staff, and the alley is clean and lit. The snack bar has some good food too.
Dragon's Lair Comics & Fantasy
Dragon's Lair has a huge selection of fantasy and role playing items. They also have a large selection of comics and Japanese cartoons. The game selection they have is awesome too. The minis are great if you need them right away, but they are pretty pricey, so I usually order mine from the internet. They always have the latest dungeons and dragons and rifts books, and also carry map making software. The pets that roam the store are great too. Nice selection of dice too.
Putt Putt Golf & Games
Putt Putt Golf and Games is a small miniature golf course that only has a couple of courses. No fancy arcade or other features like bumper boats or rides here. The courses are still well maintained, offer some challenging holes, and is not crowded like some of the amusement places in town The prices are affordable, and it is cheaper to buy a 2 or 3 course ticket than just for 1 game.
Moody Gardens
The IMAX theatre and IMAX Ridefilm Theater is a great place to take kids when you are on Galveston Island. The Aquarium has many exhibits, and they offer very educational lessons while you are viewing the animals. The rain forest is muggy, but the birds are beautiful. There are great places to take pictures, and the colors are exquisite. Last time we were there, a couple was taking wedding pictures there. The price is pretty steep, but check the internet for specials and group discounts.
Teacher Heaven
The Teacher Heaven on Ben White is stocked full of treasures. They have so many things and you don't have to be a teacher to go there. I use their supplies for sewing and for my grandson. The store is well laid out, there is a children's area for kids to play, and they have the best staff. The store is huge, and there are many items for each catagory. They take tax exempt cards, and the store has great hours and a great location.
Karen E. Frazer, DDS
Dr. Frazer makes you feel like you are her only patient while she is seeing you. The staff there is great, they can get you in and out for a cleaning in 45 minutes, and can tell you exactly how long each procedure will take. The receptionist remembers all the patients, which is crazy, but she is great with insurance information, and can get all the information you need without you having to call over and over again to ask for it. Great office right off of Manchaca Road and Ben White.
Seton Family of Hospitals
The Seton Medical Center is located on 38th Street right next to Seton Medical Tower. The doctors for the OB/GYN are right next door, so they were able to come over and check on me after having a baby. The nurses there were great, making sure I had everything I needed, and controlling the crowd that came to visit. The pharmacy right down stairs made it convenient for me to get my pain meds before we left to go home.
