24 Hour Fitness

This is a very small 24 hour fitness. In the morning it is hard to get a spot in the childcare facility unless you get there early, especiailly between 9 and 10. It is almost always packed with people and it is usually a wait to get on the equipment. Since this is such a low-priced membership, you have a lot of rude and inconsiderate low lifes who don't wipe down the machines and aren't courteous enough to share weights. The pool facility is small and the temperature is always just above freezing. The popular classes are always full unless (once again) you get there early which is a waste of my valuable time.

PROS: Cheap
CONS: Small facility, overcrowded

Santa Clarita Athletic Club

If you are actually going to the gym to work out then this is a better choice than any other offered in SCV. The have a large facility which includes a main gym, a female only gym, an aerobic room, a full size basketball court which also is used for volleyball, a spinning room and a seperate gym for Emerald club members (if you want to pay a little more to stay away from the riff raff of the main gym). This is the only gym in SCV with any raquetball facilities. There are 5 or 6 courts and they are lighted. There is also a teen fitness club,babysitting, and an atrium type area for yoga or pilates or you can sit up there and watch either the basketball or raquetball games. This gymis moderately priced and has everything you need sans the lap pool. Oh well, we can't have it all.

Creative Clutter

If you are a scrapbooker, this is the place to go for all your supplies. They have a good selection of paper, adhesive, stickers, die cuts, beads, glitter, pens and such. They also have sample pages through out the store if you are unfamiliar with products that can give you ideas on how to use them. They also have classes for beginners or to learn new techniques. This store also has a good selection of stationery and party invitations.

PROS: Good selection
CONS: a little pricey

Scott Construction

Thank goodness the secretary at this hodge podge operation is so mentally challeneged that she could not seem to figure out how to set up an appointment for me to have them come and give an estimate. The first two times she cancelled and had to reschedule. The third time she told me the wrong date and time and the fourth time they just didn't even show up. After all this hassle I decided to go with Armando Concrete (best decision ever). My yard is finished and looks devine and my neighbor (who IS using Scott Construction) is still having problems and has a large pile of sand in his front yard that has been there for aty least 3 months. One guy maybe comes out once a week to lay one brick and then leaves. Daily, I had a crew of 8-10 just laying it down. Not to mention all the problems with the quality of work. They've had to tear down a couple of walls a few times becasue they were crooked or uneven. BEWARE!!!

PROS: Speaks English
CONS: too many to mention, slow slow slow

This shop offers a lot of services including facials, waxing,massage,acrylics, manicures and my favorite "The Bella Pedicure". The large comfy massage chairs with spa tubs are great and the decor is elegant and relaxing. The staff is always professional. The prices are a little on the steep side but my pedicure lasts for 3-4 weeks which makes it worth it. They do very pretty nail art as well. My daughter gets her eyebrows waxed her as well and they always do a nice job.

PROS: Centrally located-easy parking-
CONS: High prices, hard to get an appointment because of popularity

Tire Pros Town & Country

I had a flat tire on my BMW because of a bad valve stem and called up to see if they could take a look at it. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes and he didn't even charge me. What a very nice place. They carry a wide selection of tires and the owner is very nice and helpful and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need.

Le Chene French Cuisine

This is my absolute favorite restaurant of all time. The food is melt in your mouth delicious, especially the filet mignon w/bordelaise butter and the filet tips with bernaise. They have a wide variety of foods such as duck, quail, escargot and hard to find delicacies. The house salad is amazing, and the hot crusty fresh fench bread is delicious. Creme Brulee and Chocolate Mousse are by far the best in this valley. The atmosphere is romantic with the stone walls and the beautiful garden area outside with a stream running through it. Worth the drive the Agua Dulce. Nice bar with an extensive collection of wines.

PROS: If you're looking for delicious authentic french food, this is the place.
CONS: Expensive, but worth it for a special occasion.

Valencia Acura

I recently purchased an Acura MDX and was so surprised by the down to earth, honest sales manager. After the purchase we were actually taken through the vehicle by a very nice salesman who spent two hours walking us through the car and all the gadgetry that was inside. We were shown step by step how everything works and he even helped us program the radio stations for the XM and how to use the navigation system. When I returned to the service department to have some extra equipment put on (running boards, rear spoiler, etc) the employees couldn't have been nicer. Everything was quick and efficient and they provided me a shuttle ride home and back to pick up the car afterward.

PROS: Friendly staff, helpful salesman, Michael Bennet is an angel!!
CONS: NONE!!

Wild Thyme Cafe & Bakery

Wild Thyme is a relatively unknown secret. They have great food and a cutesy french atmosphere. They are known for their many different types of crepes which are quite large and very tasty. The pastries and desserts are outstanding and the blackberry apple cobbler is to die for.

PROS: Great coffee and dessert place, never a wait.

Pets Mart

Hands down, this is the best and most complete pet supply store in Santa Clarita. They carry every type and brand of dog food there is, plus a wide selection of chew toys, leashes, pet clothing, vet services, training and grooming. They also have a wide variety of fish, hamsters, birds and mice and all the necessary supplies for these animals as well. Friendly staff and pets are welcome int he store
