Gifford Street Fabrics is a great upholstery shop. The people who work here are incredibly helpful and will help you to find the right fabric for you as well as help you figure out how much you'll need. They carry an extensive selection of upholstery fabrics as well as decorative trims, beaded fringes, tassels and accessories. This store is really a nice place to browse in as well as shop in
What a great way to spend an afternoon. The docents have weekly training as well as a 6 week training course before conducting tours for groups. You will have someone knowledgeable about the arts, which is nice. The Hunter has also expanded and just completed the O'Keeffe exhibit. There is a bridge connecting the Hunter with the walking bridge and parking on high street. There is a great little cafe in there as well.
My friend volunteers as a docent and loves it there.
This is a great little museum for visitors along with chattanoogans. Chris and I went there one afternoon and were really impressed with all of the exhibits there. There were Indian artifacts as well as Civil war artifacts. There was a short film regarding the industrialization of Chattanooga and it's history. The price is very reasonable and there is also parking in back and on the street. Very close to hotels, food and the aquarium and the creative discovery museum.
This museum is filled with a collection of one woman, Ann Houston. She apparently spent most of her modest income on her collection. The story is that she opted to live with her collection in a barn rather than sell or give them up. The museum is filled with amazing glass and is definitely not a museum for small kids or at least one with curious hands.
This garden store is located on Highway 153 across from Rex's electronic store. It is smaller than the Barn nursery but the staff is freindly and helpful. They have a great number of trees and of course sell all of the annuals and perrinials out everywhere at the appropriate time. Ample parking and a really neat greenhouse.
I have been here for corporate events as well as dance recitals and graduations. Cats played there once when I was younger and most of the smaller venue concerts are held here as well as plays. The Irish dancers came a couple of years ago. No food or drink allowed past the lobby. Any seat is really a good seat, the way the auditorium is set up. Next time you have a chance to see a play here, please do.
This is my second favorite Mexican restaurant and I love the location, very easy to get to from downtown or hixson. The parking stinks if it is raining because you will not find a small in the parking lot where the restaurant is. You will need to park over near the CVS or greenlife. The margaritas are excellent. There is a smoking and non smoking section and they are renovating the outside patio. The food is also excellent. Service is very quick.
I personally prefer pisa pizza to this pizza but most of my friends love Lupi's. They have two locations, downtown and on hixson pike. The pizza is made and then they add on your toppings and put back in the oven with a little more cheese. They do have brushetta and small salads. The atmosphere is conducive for kids and adults in the hixson location where they have more seating. They also have a good selection of beer.
This store has good parking on the side and is filled with knitting supplies. They also have supplies for crocheting and crossstiching. I bought what i needed to complete a sock monkey and plenty of crosstiching supplies to complete two projects.
They do hold knitting classes for a reasonable fee. However, if you are wanting one on one time, you will need to discuss that and try to find a tutor. The classes may not be for you.
This is Chattanooga's little Six Flags. It is actually in Rossville, GA which is right across the Georgia State line. They have rides for little kids as well as water rides and roller coasters. They have like 10 rides for little kids and over ten what they call thrill rides.
To get in is only 3.00 and you can purchase tickets for .75 each. Unlimited Ride Pass is $18.00. Much cheaper than Six Flags. They also have summer concerts so go often to the website for info.
