Highland Mall
Highland Mall used to be a great place to shop. It's not as nice as it once was and the selection of good stores has decreased. The food court is okay, and they have alot of smaller snack places. It's still clean and tidy but I prefer other malls over this one. Around Christmas is the only time I go here anymore.
TicketCity
Ticket City is a great place to buy concert tickets (or really any event in the area). They make it so easy. They even deliver for an additional charge. They're competitive on their prices and they tell you where the seats are and give you the option of where you want to sit (providing you order them early). I get all my Tickets from them, Concert, Sesame St. Live, etc. The customer service is the best I've seen!
Lakeline Mall
I love going to Lakeline mall versus other malls because they have some of my favorite stores. It's huge, clean and it's a family oriented mall. The place smells of Cookies, candy and pretzels! We love Build-a-bear, JC Penney's, and Spencers Gifts. The food court is so big everyone can get what they want and eat together! It's a saturday outing that we all enjoy!
Dobie Center Dormitory
I love going to Dobie Mall, it's a small place downtown (across UT) and it's jam packed with shopping fun. They have a convenience store, arcade, restaurants, Hair salons and the theater is awesome. They show independant films, Classic films, lots you won't see anywhere else. I remember seeing Yellow Submarine the last time I went (can't see that anywhere anymore). Dobie Mall has it all.
Gumballs
I used to go to Gumballs all the time when I was downtown. They had a great selection of all kinds of candy and the novelties were great as well. You could get those small metal lunch boxes with candy in them for the kids (they loved that). I don't think they're at Dobie Mall anymore. Not sure where they moved or if the business has closed permanently. They did have a huge variety of chocolates and confections.
Lammes Candies Since 1885
I love candy and especially chocolate! I love this store, it's always spotless and the people are so friendly. The only problem I have is not being able to decide what I want! The fudge has to be my favorite, it's rich and creamy and it gives you a warm feeling inside! The seasonal candy is great as well as the chocolate dipped strawberries. I don't really care for the chocolate dipped grapes but they're ok.
Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum
On our way to Dallas this past summer, we passed by the Texas Ranger Museum. We decided to drive back alittle early and stop on our way back home. I'm glad we did, it was a great lesson in Texas history and the whole family enjoyed it. The place was amazing, I never realized the Texas Rangers were such a big asset to the old west. We were fortunate to see the Women and the Rangers exhibit and that was cool! There's weapons, badges and artifacts on display. Admission was pretty cheap around $5 for adults, kids under 6 are free. They also have a museum store with some great souveniers!
PROS: Old Pictures are amazing! Price you can afford!
CONS:
Forbidden Fruit
A friend of mine took me into Forbidden Fruit a couple of years ago and it was the first time I'd ever been in a store like this! It's an intimate boutique for women and it's awesome! I laughed alittle at some of the novelty items/gag gifts. They carry the entire Kama Sutra line of products (ie honey dust). They have intimate lingerie and body lotions! Too much to mention. If you've never been in you must go at least once. I got an education that day!
PROS: Everything intimate!
CONS: Some vulgar stuff
Nine Maternity
This was my favorite place to shop when I found out I was pregnant. The clothes are stylish (not feedsack style) and so comfortable and that's a plus when you're pregnant! Great selection of nursing bra's, gowns and pj's. I never left this store without a making a purchase. When they have a sale, they have a SALE. The clothes I bought then are still in great condition and they went through 2 pregnancies!
PROS: Stylish Maternity clothes, Great Prices!
CONS:
Second Looks Men's Resale
My husband and I went in this place to check on their prices. We were looking for a suit for a wedding we were going to attend. We were very impressed with the quality and the prices! He ended up buying a really NICE suit, 3 shirts and a couple of ties all for less than $100. Friendly, clean, organized and very helpful.
