Puptown Doggy Daycare in San Diego is the place to take your dog if you are a working professional. They offer ?crate free boarding? for pets where your dogs can act like they are in their home environment. Dogs get to run, play, and just have fun in a safe and fun environment. The facility is temperature controlled so you don?t have to worry about your dog freezing to death or burning up from heat exhaustion. There is an outside area for dogs to run around, beds for dogs to take naps on, and they even give the dogs distilled water to drink. They offer care from 7am-7pm and Corey is incredible with the dogs. Corey treats every dog as though it is a personal family pet. The dogs are respected, and understood for what they are, companions. They aren?t put into crates and ignored throughout the day like some daycare places do. Think of this place as a preschool for dogs, and the best all day care you can give your pets, if you personally cannot care for them during the day. So don?t leave your dog home alone all day, take them to see Corey at Puptown Doggy Daycare, you will be glad you did. Prices are a bit expensive, but not completely outrageous. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but that is common in this area.
PROS: Personalized care for your favorite pooch
CONS: Expensive, parking is a challenge
Camp Surf is a fun surf themed camp. Don?t expect to spend all your time in the water at this camp however. In addition to surfing, they teach respect for the water. You participate in boogie boarding, arts and crafts, and take field trips to various places in San Diego. They also encourage personal reflection in addition to respect for nature. You learn to respect the ocean, its wildlife, and the environment you are in through their camp program. The instructors are superb, excellent surfers who know how to teach surfing to even children with no sense of balance who have no idea how to stand on a surfboard. If you are an experienced surfer, than this camp is not for you, but if you have never been taught how to surf, and always wanted to learn how, you really need to check out this surf camp. The prices are rather affordable, compared to other surf camps in the area, and the instructors are very patient with beginners, something that other surf camps in the area lack. If you are ready to hit the open waves at the end of the surf camp, they can even recommend the best place to go to get your first board, and let you know all of the gear that you will need for riding the waves.
PROS: A good place to learn the "ropes" of surfing
CONS: Not for experienced surfers, expensive
Copley Symphony Hall is an architectural marvel in San Diego! It is the most architecturally interesting building in San Diego. The acoustics in this place are incredible, which makes for superior sound, and a wonderful overall experience. Whether you are going to see a symphony production or you are going to see something marvelous like Woody Allen and the New Orleans Jazz Band, you will be impressed by the sound quality, and overall experience of Copley Symphony Hall. The employees at this place are incredibly helpful. Whether you need help finding your seat in the hall, or you need a recommendation for a place to go to eat after a show, the employees are very happy to help you find exactly what you are looking for and make your experience an overall excellent one. Parking unfortunately is practically non existent in this area. If you can take public transportation I would highly recommend it. Tickets are affordable, but vary depending on who you are seeing perform. No matter where your seats are located in the hall, you will have a prime viewing area, and the sound will make it sound as though you are sitting front row center. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show at Copley Symphony Hall.
PROS: Architecturally pleasing, affordable
CONS: Parking is a huge problem, use public transportation
Camp La Jolla is a camp that really cares about your children. They treat every child like they are their own. They instill confidence, respect, love, and self-esteem in children that they will not gain anywhere else. If you have a couch potato, this is THE best way to get them off of the couch and active. They will enjoy everything La Jolla is famous for from surfing to snorkeling, swimming to just being kids. The thing that sets this camp apart from everything else is that they promote a healthy lifestyle, healthy choices, and healthy habits in children. The staff members at this camp are superior, and are above and beyond what you could ever imagine when it comes to their skills with dealing with your children. They understand the inner and outer aspects of being a child, and they understand how emotionally tiring and draining being a kid these days can be. They encourage children to love themselves, lean on others, and make lasting friendships. Your child will love every minute they spend at Camp La Jolla, and while the cost is expensive compared to comparable services, the care your children will receive at Camp La Jolla is superior to other camps in the same field!
PROS: The staff is awesome and incredibly talented.
CONS: The price is costly for most families.
The La Mesa Recreation Center is a nice facility that offers a wide variety of services, classes, and more for the community. The great thing about taking courses at recreation centers is that you pay a fraction of the price that you might otherwise pay if you enrolled in say a dance school or a day care. Whether you are into sports, dance, gymnastics, preschool classes, or art, you will find something at the La Mesa Recreation Center that meets your needs. Whether you are 2 or 102, there is a class for you at the La Mesa Recreation Center. What sets this facility apart from other recreation centers is the staff; they are very dedicated and devoted to their jobs. They will help you out, with whatever your needs, and find the right place for you to feel a sense of ?belonging? or find a place for you to volunteer if that is your choice. Their facility is well kept, clean, and their services are extremely affordable. Kids especially will find a wide variety of classes where they are taught respect, new art forms, patience, and understanding. Whether you want a place to relax after school, enjoy a picnic lunch, or just spend a day together as a family with other families, you will find something for everyone at the La Mesa Recreation Center.

The San Diego Historical Society is a great place to go whether you are visiting San Diego for the first time, or you have lived in San Diego your entire life. The San Diego Historical Society is a special museum of sorts that gives you an in depth look at San Diego and it?s rich, rich history. Whether you are interested in old city photos, cultural history, or the history of our ports and beaches, you will find it at the San Diego Historical Society. The employees are very helpful, and they are so knowledgeable about San Diego, that you will consider them ?San Diego experts? on your first visit. There is such a special, unique history to San Diego as a city, and the only way to really learn about it is by visiting this museum. You will want to come for a second visit, because you will always notice something that you never noticed before, even if the place hasn?t changed a bit from your last visit. The thing that sets this apart from other museums in San Diego is that it is completely devoted to America?s finest city San Diego. Many school groups pay a visit to this place annually, especially middle schools. My best advice, visit early on in the day, or during the summer, when it will be less crowded. Make sure if you write down all of your questions you have about San Diego before you visit, because you will want to ask the employees while you were there, and chances are you will forget what you wanted to ask when you are there. Additionally, if you are an educator, and you are going to be teaching about San Diego in your classroom, visit this place first, so that you can learn the real history of San Diego, so that you are really informed about what you are teaching about. I would recommend that every teacher in San Diego visit this place!
PROS: A great place to learn San Diego's history
CONS: Parking can be problematic
The Lets Make Music School has been bringing music to the lives of San Diego?s residents since the early 1980?s. They offer a chance for everyone to learn music, thru chanting, rhyming, songs, and movement. They teach children to respect music as an art, and not just as music. They personalize their classes with the age of the children, and they really work hard to develop a love in children for all types of music from folk music to children?s music. The thing that sets Lets Make Music apart from all of the other musical programs is how affordable they are. Any family can afford to send their child to receive music lessons thru this program, and they keep it that way so that every child can learn to love and appreciate music. I think that programs like Lets Make Music need to continue to exist in our community because music programs are being cut from so many schools. A love and appreciation for music is a very vital part of our society today, and if children are not taught that music is an art form, they will never really appreciate it. The instructors are friendly, well rehearsed, multi-talented instructors who are able to help kids at any different levels from beginners to advanced students. The instructors support their students, even outside of the classroom and really push for respect and self-improvement more than setting standards that apply to every student. I would recommend Lets Make Music to anyone who wants to instill a love of music in their children!
PROS: Makes learning music fun, an art form, and affordable
CONS: None that I can think of
